Can I become data scientist after graduating from hindu college with Bsc stats?

You can definitley become a data scientist. Your background in Statistics comes handy in handling data. However, you should do a course related to data analytics to enter the field. You can do an MBA in Data Analytics to get into data management as well or go for industry-led courses in Big Data.

Primarily, jobs in data are about creating algorithms that crunch the data and collecting and processing data to generate statistical analysis. The job profiles range from data scientists and data analaysts to business/domain experts. Data Analytics usually need a background in engineering, but people with with a Statistics background are reqired in large numbers for procesing and creating analysis.

According to global management consultancy McKinsey & Co. there will be a dire shortage of data scientists by next year. Almost all industries that rely on data like social media platforms, banking, consumer goods, energy, healthcare, insurance, e-commerce etc., depend heavily on data analytics to drive their business. So, why not take the plunge and enter the field where the basic skill is statistics, also known as the gramar of data science, which happens to be your core strength?
