How many NIT in India and who will get admission

There are total 31 NITs in India and  all of them are categorized under autonomous public institutions for higher education.

Admission to B.Tech Programmes is managed through the JoSAA counselling process, based on the rank secured in JEE Mains.

Admission to M.Tech programmes is based on the scores obtained in GATE exam  while seat allotment is managed through CCMT.

For Admission in NITs, the candidates should have obtained a minimum of 75% aggregate marks or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
For SC/ST category, a minimum of 65% marks required.
