All was going good for PESIT until 2013 when I joined this college. It was in the line of becoming a dreaded university much like VIT and SRM which picked up really well with getting good student admits but ended up going down the drain eventually when increased their intake and what not (Yes, the VIT rankings that you see in the newspaper are obviously paid and fake, trust me, I had a under 1500 rank in VIT). We were all hoping for its request of becoming a deemed university to be declined by the Karnataka Government. RVCE and BMSCE (two other top tier colleges in Bangalore) who had also applied for deemed university status were declined this “privilege”, alas PES had become a university too soon.
The standards of a good engineering college are first and foremost set by the students who secure admission to the college. Initially, PESIT used to take admission from CET and Comedk attracting the best minds from Karnataka and good students from other parts of India as well. I have seen my classmates give up their CET ranks which would have secured them Computer Science in either BMS or MS Ramaiah, but chose to go ahead with Computer Science admit in PES through their Comedk ranks which would require them to shell out an additional 1 lac a year. Yes, such was the brand of PES. It was regularly ranked under top 40 if not top 30 in India and was on par with the top private universities in India atleast in CS.
But with this great power came great responsibility. The management thought that it has nurtured the PES brand relatively well with students working at good industrial and academic positions across the globe if not atleast in India and Bangalore. They had decided to take PES to the top much like BITS Pilani which is undoubtedly the best Private Engineering College in India. But unlike BITS, PES could not attract top tier students because of primarily two reasons. First of all there is no quota whatsover in BITS whereas the management stopped intake from Comedk and instead started conducting their own exam called PESSAT on similar lines of BITSAT (Maths + English + Chem + Physics, I guess there’s logical reasoning also - not sure). Second, its brand is not as reputed as BITS. No offence, but the condition of the college started deteriorating because it wasn’t attracting the best minds in the country anymore. now fees in these college for outside student is almost 10–11 lakh for 4 years (including hostel charges and tuition fees ) . on the other hand manipal is 18–19 lakh for 4 years (including everything ). manipal has no extra costs but these college have many extra hidden cost . also hostels are overpriced in bangalore colleges but in manipal you get what you pay .
I would say if you want to join a college for just degree then join bangalore as it will be cheaper and ROI will be more but if you have money and you are getting top branches in manipal (in which you are interested ) then please join manipal as it is much better .also if you are getting scholarship at manipal then the cost will become same so in that case join manipal .

EXAM STRUCTURE
The labs and courses were quite frequent and mostly hectic. But once yours done with classes its mostly chilled out. You only have to study and cram before the exams/ tests. The tests were monthly, i.e internals so if you prepared for them you were mostly all caught up for the exams.
COURSE CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Now BMSIT comes under the VTU curriculum. The focus is usually on understanding concepts clearly, but as with all other universities it is usually up to you to decide how much effort you want to put into research. The course structure is mostly focused on a good balance between labs and classes. I personally found the VTU curriculum very hectic but if you go out of your way to put an effort for research you should be good.
INTERNSHIPS OPPORTUNITIES
No, MSRIT does not provide internship and there's no part of the course where you are able to do an internship along side your course as well. I never did an internship, we have no semester dedicated for this purpose as some other universities have.

Believe me, its useless.Faculty : I will talk about Mechanical engineering department. It's somewhere near to average. I don't have much knowledge to make a comment on others. Sorry.Environment : It totally depends on your friends. There are few projects going in mechanical department. Majority only focuses on marks and grade.Easy to score good grades if you are in mechanical.So if you want a decent private college which can give you 3.5 LPA job. This is the place.The faculty are very cordial and friendly with the students. Students also get a chance to participate in extra curricular and sports activities. Also, not all professors here are very knowledgeable about their subject itself. You might get screwed for not wearing the ID card or wearing a shirt with no collar.
The place is also a little far from the city which makes travel a little difficult. But not to worry, our people have developed apps to help you commute(Pool with people of similar locality). There is also a food app for the canteen which can really help on a crowded day. So all in all. It is a good college among the rest in Bangalore and I would recommend it to someone who’d want to join MSRIT.

Located on Mysore Road, RV College of Engineering (RVCE) is quite far from the centre of the city and it takes about an hour to reach the college without traffic. However it’s easily accessible as a lot of BMTC buses ply here. College also provides bus facility for 15,000 a year. Almost equal numbers of students travel by BMTC and college bus.
Infrastructure:
The RV College of Engineering (RVCE) campus is huge and is also very beautiful. There is a separate block for each department. The academic infrastructure is top class. Labs are of course well-equipped and also have equipment which are not usually found in any other colleges of the city. The entire campus is Wifi enabled, which however isn't very reliable. Library is pretty big and has a lot of books. But it needs to enhance its collection as some of the books are not found in sufficient numbers. Also college needs to provide better facilities for sports. There are a couple of playgrounds (unlike many other engineering colleges in Bangalore, where there are absolutely no grounds or open space) but and they are not in a very good condition and students in general aren't too happy with this factor.
Hostels for 2nd and final year are new and they’re nice. The first years hostels are average. But the 3rd years hostels are old and in a pathetic condition. There are just 4 bathrooms between 64 students. Mess food is fine but offers no variety to students. Hostel charges are Rs 45,000 a year including mess charges.

The College was sanctioned 12 crore rupees under TEQIP program from the World Bank in 2012.
