Dear Kalivaraprasad,
In order to be eligible for GATE, you need to be a B.Tech or an M.Tech. To know the academic eligibility, you can check the link that is given below to know. It will clearly mention what are the prerequisites to be eligible to appear for the GATE exam.

Candidates seeking jobs at the PSUs must meet the eligibility criteria required for the job, which generally is a valid GATE score in a discipline relevant to the job. The PSU may also specify the minimum pass percentage or CGPA obtained in their degree that has be considered while applying.
