It would be very difficult for you get in good colleges of du with 83% that too belonging to general category. You may still hope to get in some off campus colleges in third or fourth cutoff. For further idea regarding the cutoffs you may check the last year's cutoffs for different colleges for the course you are seeking at www.du.ac.in. There you may get a clear idea regarding the college's and will you deal with it.

In DU, best four percentage is considered for admission in any course. For your general reference I can tell you that the cutoff range for ba program is between 85-92% so seems like you hv a fair chance if your best four percentage ranges in between.
You can check last year cutoffs to get a fair idea about the trends at www.du.ac.in
The criteria to calculate best four percentage is:
One language+The subject you want to enroll in +2top subjects
Or
1language+ 3 top subjects
