iam a keralite, roman catholic with a domicile in karnataka. my parents income is below 8 lakhs.what category do I fall? can anybody help
Hello student,
As the income of your parents falls within the limit of 8 lakhs, you come under the non-creamy layer of Other Backward Classes(OBC-NCL).
Roman Catholics in India, majority of them being of the Latin Rite, have OBC status in the state of Kerala. Eastern Catholics of Kerala, including those who are part of the extended Roman Catholic Church (Syro-Malabar, Syro-Malankara) do not have OBC status. There are several divisions under Roman Catholics. RCSC,RCSM, RCLC etc. RCLC will come under OBC. Others divisions won't. In short, only Latin Christians are considered OBC in Kerala. Roman Catholics come under 3A category in Karnataka and BC-C category in some other states like AP and Telengana.
Hope this answer is helpful:)
