Admission in NITs is based on JEE main exam and the central seat allocation board will allot you thr seat based on those marks only. Marks in jee advanced is for the admission in IITs. Along with NITs, all the IIITs and the CFTIs take admission on the basis of jee main marks only. If your advance exam is not upto the mark still you have the chance to get a seat in one of the above mentioned.

Getting admission is solely depend upon your jee mains result and does not depend upon advanced result. And for admission in IITs require qualifying in mains and good rank in jee advanced.

If you fails in jee advanced and have good rank in jee mains you can get admission in NITs.
