Sir..Plese suggest..1)CSE at IIT Tirupati or 2) Electrical at IIT Varanasi which is the best..I am equally prefer both the branches(Ele &CS)
Also 20 years down the line , when you become 40 odd , the institution will have an excellent reputation , cause it is an IIT and also it has better equipments than old IITs . The big picture is you being able to brag about your insti 15 years later . So , yeah , accordign to me , a good choice
curriculum. They have courses ranging from as diverse areas as Material Science, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, Digital Design, Algorithms and others. You get an exposure of various fields which are out there in the real world.
I will try to answer your question in parts as you mentioned in your description(and from my interactions with certain faculty members).
Faculty : EE at IIT (BHU), Varanasi has some great faculties and gives you a basic understanding of the subjects they teach. You can approach them with your queries and questions. I believe they will go out of their way to help you if they are able to sense that you are sincere, regular and hard working person.
Research : Research at undergraduate level is generally not that much(except your BTech thesis where you might get a chance to do little research). You will get to do projects in your department along with the courses that you will do.
However, that said, nobody will stop you from approaching professors, Mtech and PhD students for doing research.
Social Environment : The BHU campus is very beautiful considering the lush greenery. The people who you will meet there would be some of the best minds from the country and will be responsible for peer learning and your development during your stay. Socialize and listen to different stories of journey that different people have to tell. You can learn many new things/techniques from your peers(You can contribute also :)). Also, EE also has it’s own annual festival : Prastuti (You’ll get to know about it once you reach there)
Placements : EE at BHU is one department who enjoys the luxury of having companies which come to recruit from ECE and CSE departments as well besides their own companies. People at EE get selected in big companies like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Broadcomm, Samsung, . In short for very good placements you will have to focus on the area of your choice(like Programming, VLSI, Power Electronics, etc) and work accordingly so that you get selected in the company of your choice.
Hope you find it helpful
let me know in the comment box if you are having any further doubts
thanks
Good Luck!
