Actually, you have to score 75% or in top 20 percentile in the 12th board examination after that only you can get an NIT college or give the JEE Advanced examination to get IITs.

To become eligible for admission in NITs/IIITs/IITs/GFTIs, you need to have at least an aggregate percentage of 75% or be in top 20 percentile of your respective boards.For SC/ST category students, minimum aggregate percentage required is 65% .

Every year 2.24 lakh students qualify for JEE advanced but to get a seat in NITs or GFITs your rank should be below 40K. To secure your chances you need to score above 97 percentile.

For admissions to NITs/IITs / GIFT'S Candidates need to have secured a minimum 75% marks in class XII or equivalent exam or be in the top 20 percentile in their class XII exam conducted by the respective board.
