A biodiversity hotspot is place which is rich in biodiversity and is threatened at the same time. Around the world 25 biodiversity hotspots have been recognised which are at high risk of extinction and have lost more than 70% of there coverage area. India is considered a mega diversity hotspot because of the large diversity of organism found here ranging from eastern to western ghats and North and South India too. Mainly western ghats are at high risk now. So, we need to look into it and take measures to protect it.
