What is the category system at VIT and how our rank affects it?

Vellore institute of technology for lower category system for deciding the fee structure of the candidates. There are total five different categories for the fee structure which vary from 2 lacs per annum to 5 lacs per annum. The fee for first category is 200000 for second category it is 300000 for 3rd category it is 400000 for fourth category it is 450000 and for 5th category it is 5 lacs. Now for a particular branch the total number of seats and divided into five categories and are allotted to to the various candidates based upon their choices and rank. The individuals with better rank are put up in lower category while it increases with ranks. It is important to note that there is no solid rank defined for the various three category but it is decided based upon the demand of candidates. For example the seats in first category for computer science and engineering seats are closed at 1500 rank while for mechanical the first category goes around 5000 rank.

There are 5 categories in VIT. And all the categories have different fees , so on the day of your counselling on behalf of your VITEEE rank, and the remaining seats in each category left in each campus will decide your admission.

Category 1’s fees is minimum, and it will increase in next categories,Category 5’s fees is maximum.

There is also two groups of branches to select, and it will effect your category fees too.

CSE, ECE, Mechanical, IT etc branches fall into B group.

EEE, Chemical,Electrical,Civil etc fall into A group
