The management thought that it has nurtured the PES brand relatively well with students working at good industrial and academic positions across the globe if not atleast in India and Bangalore. They had decided to take PES to the top much like BITS Pilani which is undoubtedly the best Private Engineering College in India. But unlike BITS, PES could not attract top tier students because of primarily two reasons. First of all there is no quota whatsover in BITS whereas the management stopped intake from Comedk and instead started conducting their own exam called PESSAT on similar lines of BITSAT (Maths + English + Chem + Physics, I guess there’s logical reasoning also - not sure). Second, its brand is not as reputed as BITS. No offence, but the condition of the college started deteriorating because it wasn’t attracting the best minds in the country anymore. When PES announced that it would stop intake from Comedk and CET and only admit students through PESSAT, the Karnataka Government stepped in and disallowed this move saying that there should be atleast 50% reservation for students through CET.

The students have formed team ANTARIKSH which focuses on building a nano satellite. Initiated by 8 dynamic students of Aerospace Department the team now has 60 plus students from different departments who have already started the design of nano satellite. He was my first "counsellor" and anyone attending R.V.C.E will know that a counsellors role is to tell you about your attendance and someone you collect your progress report from. This was not the case when Y.G.R was my counsellor. He was actually a counsellor and even though counsellors changed after the first sem, I still went to him. He even requested other teacher's to clear the students( who he was the counsellor to) with lower than required attendance.

The location is such that there is not much scope to be distracted and you can focus on your studies. ENTRANCE PREVIEW I took the Karnataka CET entrance test, I got a rank of 3679 and was sure about the course i wanted to take, i.e Electronics and Communication Engineering. I was looking at the best college that I could get into with this rank. Now BMSIT has placements alongside of BMSCE, so that was one of the major reasons why I chose this college. With a fairly good rank, if you want a good course (ECE which is usually quite hard to get in), and a college with a good reputation ( which has a major role to play during placements) this is a good place to go to

It's the evergreen branch, I mean to say, somewhere or the other the construction works goes on continously as India is still developing,lot of infra projects are yet come down the lane .so ideally speaking one can find a job with some difficulty initially and mind you,far less than what your other friends belonging to other branches of engineering.( Students studying in state level colleges and not NIT's &IIT's )
if you are lucky enough the you will have a good salary hike and after say five years if you are lucky the one can reach to Asst. Manager post say in contracts department and on site you may handle a portion of a big residential project ( if you are into residential complex construction),salary might reach around say 6 lac per annum in india.And if you fly to gulf the you can earn somewhere around 2–2.5 lacs/month.if you go for CSE there as well,one can have the same or sometimes GET even more salary.
As a civil engineer your requirement at site is most required in most of the times.

Ashwa(they represent India at many racing competitions across the globe and have their own niché )or debating club or quizzing club or e-cell(one of the best e-cell clubs in India) or theatre club-CARV( one of the best student theatre clubs in India); you name it and they have it. If you don’t have a club to showcase your talent, then finding one is very easy too. The seniors are very helpful and, sometimes, little naggy for their juniors.There are many Students who drink and smoke (well, Bangalore pub culture is to be blamed for the same). But, that doesn’t imply that those who drink, compromise with their academics or vice-versa. The campus has a curfew time (not to stay in the campus for girls post 6 pm and not to come into the campus for boys post 10:00 pm). The students organise their college fest -8th mile, every year, through sponsors. The College administration is a little cold for the fest. But, they are really very helpful and cooperative if the students have formed their committee to organise the fest. The college doesn’t provide money for the fest every year. But, getting sponsors for the same is fun and is a learning cusp for the students, besides, to work in a team. Eventually, the students pool 35–45lacs money to organise the fest. The fest is one of the bests in India. The students who reside in the hostel have best four years of their life. And they eventually end up having an eternal friendship. Every social construct has few anti-social elements and so does RV but, let’s ignore them because they are a few.Non- Teaching Staff: They are helpful and at times are very irritating. Try to be their friends and you will not face any problem.Placements: The placement may be divided into two- 1)CSc::ECE::EEE 2) other departments. (This is how it is in any other colleges too.) The avg package in CSc and ECE is 10lpa( highest 30 lpa) and that in EEE is 8–9lpa (highest 16 lpa). Many elite MNCs hit the campus ex-Google, Microsoft, Walmart, Cisco, Qualcomm, Infosys( offered 16lpa; not for mass recruitment), SAP, JP Morgan Chase &Co., Morgan Stanley, Caterpillar, BookMyShow, BEL, Mercedes, etc. There were 150+ recruiters. The other departments’ students manage to get either 6 digit package (few got 7 digit packages too ex Tata steels(11lpa)) or most of them pursue higher education. And they have very great future after their further studies.RV college has only domestic placements. So, please accept the fact that 30lpa domestic placement is good enough, I would say it’s great.I hope my first line is justified by my explanation. Yes RVCE has been overrated time and again. The CS dept. Of RVCE is
said to be best in Bangalore but the story is far different from
reality. Infact last year, EC department managed to get the highest
package from on-campus placements. People in first year( don't know
about higher semesters) are struggling in CS. But still we people hope
this will change some day.
Less activity more studies
.
If you are thinking to enjoy your college life rather than studying,
then RVCE is not your spoon. There is absolutely no relaxation from the
management in terms of attendance if you are into fests and all. For ex:
this year, first year students who volunteered for AT( annual college
cultural fest) were not given attendance. This is so bad because 90% of
volunteers were first year students who worked day and night to make it a
grand success. Still there hard work goes in vain because now they have
to sit for make up hours for the classes missed.
