IISc Bangalore is a very prestigious research institute of India where disciplines like basic sciences , engineering and management are taught. It has always maintained a record of being in the top 5 institutions of our country.It also comes under the top 200 universities in the world as per the QS world university rankings. IISc offers undergraduate , post graduate and Doctoral degrees. Each level of degree have different entrance exams for getting admission in IISc.

Now coming to undergraduate degrees. IISc offers four years Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees only in the Basic sciences like Biology , Physics , Chemistry , Material Science , Mathematics and Environmental Science. Students have to appear for the KVPY exams. On clearing the KVPY ,shortlisted candidates will be called for interview . On clearing the interview process , the student can apply for their UG courses and are also given a stipend. Top rankers in JEE Advanced can also apply for their UG program on which they will be called for interview .

For Masters degree , the candidates must appear for the GATE exam to get admission for their Masters in Engineering (MTech )program and the IIT JAM exam for MSc courses. Engineering courses. The Masters in Management degree admissions are taken in through the Common Admissiom Test ( CAT) scores.In all these the test scores are not enough as one candidate also has to clear the interview process to get admission .

For the doctoral Phd degrees , the admission is offered through GATE or NET exams after which they are called for interview.Integrated Phd programs are also offered to BSc students .

IISc is an extremely research oriented institute and almost 50% of its students are into research. The institute has collaborations with government agencies like ISRO , DRDO , HAL , BHEL etc. Private companies like Google , Microsoft , General Motors , Boeing , Robert Bosch also have collaborations with this institute. This institute is among the fewest institutes in our country where world class research is conducted and they have a strong alumni network throughout the world.

The University offers a lot of courses like B.Tech, M.Tech, MS, MBA, MBBS, B.Sc [Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc], MD etc. For each of these courses, the qualifying test is different.
