Which one is better for CSE. USICT or NIT Jalandhar? What are the pros and cons of each??

Not Jalandhar is better.

• Jalandhar City - The city is itself a students hub. Various other institutes like DAV college, Lovely Professional University, CT college are also situated in Jalandhar. Also the city has all the amenities of a big city but is not overcrowded like Ludhiana or Amritsar.
• Cultural & Technical Fest- Utkansh & Techniti, the cultural & technical fests of NITJ attract colleges from the whole of North India. You get a lot of opportunity to participate in various fun & technical activities during these fests.
• Placements- The placements at NITJ are comparatively good for most of the branches. CS had the best placements followed by mechanical and even textile technology. So even if you are an average student you can get decent enough placement.
• Closeness to many hill stations- NITJ has an advantage geographically. It is very close to many hill stations and places you can go on during short vacations like Manali, Dharamsala, Rishikesh (best one), Vaishno Devi, Chandigarh, Rohtang etc.
• No ragging- There is almost no ragging at NITJ. there is separate hostel for 1st year students to stop ragging.

Bad things at NIT Jalandhar-

• Hostel Timing restrictions- One of the worse things I felt at NITJ was restrictive hostel timings. It was up to 10 pm during my time but now it has been raised to 12 midnight for both boys & girls.
• 1st year restrictions- Because of separate hostel for 1st year students, there were many restrictions also. Hostel Timings would not be same as the whole campus. Also, there is no LAN connection in Hostel-1 (during our time it was not there). 1st year students stay in either Hostel-1 or Hostel-2. Comparatively H-2 is better in terms of timings and LAN

Rest of the things like administration, faculties, attendance etc are just like other NITs. Some are good, some are bad.
