Can a commerce student take admission in Doms NIT Trichy for MBA by giving CAT?

Hi Rishabh! Yes you are eligible to apply for DoMS NIT Trichy as according to the institute's eligibility criteria, applicants should be graduates in any discipline from a recognised university or institute. In order to be eligible for taking CAT, you must have at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. The CAT cutoff is around 90 percentile.
Being from Commerce background is not a hindrance in pursuing MBA. Since you are in your 2nd year and assuming that your course is of 3 years, you can start preparing for CAT right away. The first step is to identify your weak areas and work on them. The next step is to brush up the strong areas followed by practising through mock test. All the best!

Thanks ma'am. But I've heard that DoMS NIT Trichy has less cat cut off for Commerce students something like 84 percentile. Is it so?

The admission committee has not stated anything like this officially as generally the cutoff for public institutes vary based on candidate categories and not on the basis of academic background. IIMs and some of the IIT Department of Management Studies allot extra marks for non-engineering students for diversity factor. Last year, the minimum CAT percentile of candidate who was made admission offer was 89 percentile. It is anyway safe to prepare for 85-90 percentile in order to get through the B-School of your dream.
