Based on your rank in JEE mains getting top branches would be difficult but you can get other branches like ECE, EE,etc.

If you want to get in the top branches like mechanical and cs it would be difficult to get nit durgapur with this rank.
Also i have to decide that i shall have to drop or not plzz reply quickly

With your rank of 42000, you may get admission in NIT Durgapur under Home State quota, with your OBC reservation, for the below courses.
1. Metallurgical and Materials engineering
2. BioTechnology
I can just say that there is a slight chance, may be, for you to get into Chemical engineering also, but that depends... The above things I said is based on the last rank details of JoSAA 2017.
