CU is located nearer to chandigarh. you can reach easily by bus for daily up down. you may also avail hostel. Approximately 20,000 students of the university stay in the hostel . Chandigarh university has also very good transport facility.

Chandigarh University is not in Chandigarh. It is far away in a village. If you are from jalandhar why don't you join LPU. LPU is far ahead of LPU in terms of Rankings, Years of establishment, Curriculum, Industry Exposure, Infrastructure required for learning,  Placements,  Efforts for your placement, Community Projects, Centre for Excellence, Internal and external competitions, Trainings.

Even you have the option to study abroad if you join LPU.

But that will be very difficult and hectic for your health. Hence I would suggest to take hostel or pg near your college only.
