Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy, popularly known as Sastra University was the first institution to get the 'Deemed University’ status in Tamil Nadu. It offers various UG, PG and Ph.D. programs in multiple streams such as Engineering, Science, Education, Management, Law and Arts. To provide equal admission opportunities to the students from different states and districts, the university has reserved 30% of the total available seats for those who have completed their qualifying examination from outside of Tamil Nadu. In addition, the university also has SC/ST/ OBC quota as per the directives of Government of Tamil Nadu.
In order to bring all the candidates from different examining Authorities / Boards at the same scale of comparison during the selection process, a normalization process is followed by the university.
70% seats in B.Tech course are filled on the basis of JEE Main score along with prior weightage to the marks in 10+2.
30% of seats in B.Tech are filled on the basis of merit drawn on the basis of marks in 10+2 followed by counseling. Students can also opt for B.Tech Integrated and Lateral admission.
CLAT qualified candidates are eligible to apply for LL.B and Integrated LL.B courses.
B.Sc, B.Ed, BBA-LL.B, BCA, M.Sc and MCA courses are based on the marks in last qualifying examination.
M.Tech admission is based on GATE score.
CAT/ XAT/ CMAT or ATMA score holders are eligible to apply for MBA program.
Sastra University conducts a Written Test followed by an Interview to offer admission in the Ph.D. program.
