In order to a become RAW agent, candidate must take Group A Civil Services exam under the Central Staffing Scheme. He/she has to clear all the stages of Civil Service Examination. Qualified candidates are allowed to write the RAW examination.

A candidate who are eligible for the Civil service exam must have

• A degree from a Central, State or a Deemed university
• A degree from correspondence or distance education
• A degree from an open university
• A qualification recognized by the Government of India as equivalent to one of the above.
