Dear Shreeya, there are 2 things to it. You should select the Category that you belong to. And if you have selected a particular Category and if that Category has reservation benefits that you can claim, then you should have proof of documents to prove your belonging to that Category. The merit list is prepared according to the Category you choose in the intial stages of filling the application form. If you fail to submit the proofs, the chances that you will be considered under General Category are less because by then the merit list has already been prepared and changes cannot happen for a single person's sake. You might lose out on the grounds of incomplete document verification. Now assuming you are considered in General Category by chamce, you will have to fulfil all the eligibility criteria according to the General Category criteria including the minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. You cannot select OBC-NCL as your Category and be considered for General Category due to lack of documents. Neither can you be given an exception and have an aggregate of 40% when you are put in General Category. You have to choose one appropriate Category and stick to fulfilling its criteria.
