Hi Jermy! Before 2018, state government was extending 0.5% reservation for sports person in medicine, engineering and agriculture courses. The top 10 events that were included in sports quota we're Olympics, world championship, Asian games, Commonwealth games, national championship, state level, district levels, were considered on fixing priority.
The selection was done by an eight member committee compraising of sports secretary, top managers, vice Chancellor etc.
But for the year 2018-19 they have scrapped sports quota as the quota was misused for admission into reputed colleges. It was scrapped by telangana state council for higher education at the time when state government earmarked 2% reservation in jobs for sportsperson
But many students and their parents are irked with the announcement. Hope some good news will arrive in the coming year.
Dear Jermy, for the year 2018-19, Sports Quota has been scrapped by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education. So there was no Sports Quota for the year 2018-19. This year there has been no official notification as in regards to any change in the ruling from last years'. It might be disappointing but there might not be any sports quota this year.
