why college in India don't have a particular textbook for a particular course

Dear Aspirant,

Even at school level there are many books from many writers with their pros and cons. However, due to the age factor and to sustain other growth beyond academics students at school level are provided with a fixed syllabus and fix exam pattern and therefore fixed book sets. However, colleges are for more growth in one particular field and there are many other books and many writers have their views on the same topic and it is suggested that students must study them in order to get a better understanding.
