JEE Main qualified candidates are allowed lateral entry at the institute through a process called Migration. To be eligible for this route, you need to be already pursuing B.Tech./B.E. program in another institute and have passed the 1st year exam without any backlog with minimum 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.75 (on relative grading system) or CGPA of 6.00 (in case of absolute grading system). Additionally, you need to obtain a No
Objection Certificate and Migration Certificate from the institute you last attended.
So, your JEE Main rank needed't matter for lateral entry.
