Hi Murali,
According to the official website of IIT Madras, the first year B.Tech students of all branches will have an orientation session on 23rd July. Their classes will commence on 29th July. Since you have another 3 weeks before class starts I would suggest you to learn C programming before your classes start. C programming is taught to all students of first year.

Hello,
The classes will be starting from 29th of july. The admission date for btech according to the university calendar is July 23. So you will have to be on campus by then. For more details, check out the link for the academic calendar for this semester-
