The percentage you obtain in 10+2 is generally one of the many eligibility criteria for admission, and may vary from institute to institute and also depending on your category.
For example, for admission to IITs and NIT+ institutes, the minimum requirement is 75% marks for open and 65% for reserved candidates like SC and ST.
However, there are many institutes that require 60% or in some cases only 50% for admission.
But please note that meeting this eligibility criteria is no guarantee of admission, as I said earlier it is only one of the many eligibility criteria. Admissions in most cases are based on merit of candidate in enrtrance exams conducted by respective admission bodies.
