For students preparing to choose a course for 2027 admissions, the calculation has changed a little from what it was for their seniors. Salary potential still matters; of course as students after Class 12th want to get admission in the high salary courses in India. But a newer question is: will this field still need human workers once AI tools become part of everyday office and industry work? Nobody can answer that with certainty, and any course claiming to be completely "AI-proof" should be treated with caution.
What can be said, based on labour-market research such as the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025, is that certain kinds of work are expected to stay in demand even as automation spreads. Particularly roles built around AI and big data skills, since employers surveyed by the WEF expect rising demand for these through 2030. At the same time, the same report notes that routine clerical work such as data entry and cashier roles is expected to decline significantly, which is really the underlying shift students should keep in mind. It is not "tech versus non-tech" so much as "routine versus non-routine" work.
"Future-proof" in this article does not mean a guaranteed high salary or a job AI cannot touch. It means a course connected to work that involves human judgement, physical presence, regulation, care, or design choices that are hard to fully automate. It means the areas where demand is more likely to hold up as workplaces change. Here, we have listed the top 10 high-salary courses in India in this AI era that students can join in 2027 after their Class 12th.

Course | Popular career options | Why it may stay relevant in the AI era |
|---|---|---|
Software developer, systems engineer, cloud engineer | Someone still has to build, test and maintain the systems AI tools run on | |
B.Tech/B.Sc in AI and Data Science | Data analyst, ML engineer, AI product associate | WEF data shows employer demand for AI and big data skills rising through 2030 |
Security analyst, ethical hacker, SOC analyst | More systems online means more surface area to defend; this is not a task AI can be left to handle unsupervised | |
Automation engineer, robotics technician, controls engineer | Robotics and automation are reshaping manufacturing, logistics and healthcare, which keeps demand for engineers who design and maintain these systems | |
Staff nurse, physiotherapist, clinical technologist | Hands-on patient care is not something software can substitute for, and ageing populations are pushing up demand for healthcare roles | |
Solar/wind engineer, energy auditor, sustainability consultant | Employers are increasing investment in emission-reduction and sustainability work, which needs engineers on the ground | |
Corporate lawyer, litigation, compliance officer | Legal reasoning and courtroom advocacy still require licensed professionals, even where AI helps with research | |
Auditor, tax consultant, financial controller | Compliance work is rule-bound but still needs sign-off by qualified professionals accountable under law | |
Electrician, HVAC technician, industrial fitter | Physical repair and installation work is difficult to automate and is often locally in short supply | |
UX designer, product designer, design researcher | Understanding what users actually need involves judgement calls that design tools can assist but not replace |
A few things are worth checking before picking any high salary course in the AI era from a list like this, or any other. First, look at whether the syllabus has been updated recently. A data science degree that still teaches only spreadsheet-era tools is of limited use regardless of the subject's reputation. Second, check the practical or internship component; theory alone rarely translates into employability in these fields. Third, be wary of any brochure or advisor that quotes a specific guaranteed salary figure. Actual salary depends heavily on the college, the specific role, the city, and the candidate's own skill level, and varies widely even within the same course. Fourth, consider whether the field requires a licence or regulated qualification (as with law, nursing, or chartered accountancy). These tend to have a built-in barrier that also limits how quickly AI or any competitor can flood the market.
None of the ten courses above comes with a promise. What they share is a connection to some part of work physical, regulated, judgement-based, or still-developing. These are high salary courses in India 2027 and are less likely to be fully handed over to automation in the near term. For a student choosing in 2027, that is a more honest starting point than chasing whichever course is trending this admission season. The better approach is to pick a subject you can actually stay engaged with for three or four years, check the specific college's placement record and faculty rather than the field's reputation in general, and treat AI literacy, regardless of your branch, as a basic skill to pick up alongside your core degree.

Hello, pursuing an M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning after B.E. in AI and ML can help you gain advanced knowledge and specialise in the field. You can explore M.Tech AI and ML colleges and fees details here: https://engineering.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-artificial-intelligence-and-machine-learning-colleges-in-india?degree=6&stream=1&branch=588
You can pursue B.Tech in Robotics, Automation or Mechatronics after Class 12 with PCM. Admission depends on the university and may be through JEE Main or merit.
For example, Galgotias University offers B.Tech in Robotics and Mechatronics, so these can be good options to explore if you're interested in automation
Hi,
Yes, you can still join BE/BTech through KCET counselling. Since you officially discontinued your B.Sc Agriculture seat, submitted the discontinuation letter, and got your TC/documents back without penalty, you are generally eligible to participate in KCET counselling again.
KEA mainly creates issues when students block seats and do not
If you're specifically looking for B.E./ B. Tech in Aerospace Engineering (not Aeronautical Engineering) , it's worth considering LPU as well. Aerospace Engineering is a broader field that covers the design, development, testing, and maintenance of both aircraft and spacecraft , including satellites, rockets, and space exploration systems, whereas Aeronautical
