It's a good college and maintaining classes and education online even in pandemic situation. The campus is 335 acre lush green. Almost every classroom ha smart class facility with only some core department workshops looking old. The hostel is newly made along with Library and CS, EIE, ECE and EE departments. The sports complex is recently made and on this 15th August the shopping complex is inaugurated.
As the institute of technology is of National level, faculties are knowledgeable. Most of them have PhD. Most teachers are old and very rigid with their teachings. But you can always rely on their knowledge of subject matter. The laboratories are very well in our department but teaching method leave room for improvement.
The remote location of Agartala is quite a hindrance for placements. Still dour to sheets brand and alumni network of the college, fore Companies do visit for placements, students of chemical engineering along with their preference in core Companies also go for IT sectors which creates ample opportunities for students.
The NIt branding and nearness to some core industries serve as a good value for money for the college. With the competition if National level of students, new ideas come and thus and college life spends in Nit Agartala leaves all of us with highly successful friends and seniors.
The campus has its own market, coffee shops, hospital and the best part is the sports complex. We also have a volunteering service , "we can" organization. A lot of service keep going for all week, day and night.
No
The college have all the necessary infrastructure and facilities. All the library, lab, and hostels are well maintained. The living space is pretty clean and the food is hygenic. Overall, it's pretty good.
I am currently pursuing B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. The quality of teaching is Ok. The professors are good and highly educated with a good experience in teaching. Though your efforts matters the most for better academics.
The quality of placement is average with a median of 6LPA. Many of my seniors did manage to get good paciages in PSUs and other IT Giants. The training and placement cell helps in you this. Just hoping for best.
College has almost all the Modern Facilities equivalent to any institution of National Importance. Some of the Engineering departments have their own separate places in campus. For Ex, CSE, ECE and EE have separate buildings. We also have a world class sports complex, library and many other things. The boys hostel RNT is newly made. We get single rooms from 2nd year only. While the hostel was new, it didn't had wifi but now it has also been installed.
I am studying Engineering Physics in NIT Agartala. The syllabus was recently revamped to match with the updated discoveries and industry standards. Teachers have vast experience in their fields like Laser, Photonics, Condensed Matter. With some of them even having experience in research from Foreign University.
While I don't have exact figures. But depending upon the branch, placement varies. While almost all from CSE, Electronics, Instrumentation, etc branches get placed. Core branches do suffer due to being in tier 3 cities but still a lot of core companies like L&T, Tata Power, Cairn India, etc come.
Being in an NIT, is always value for money for any student. The sheer history and alumni base of the college is exemplary. While my branch doesn't get that benefit but all other undergraduate courses have financial exemptions in the fees. So far, it has definitely been value for money, for me.
College campus has almost all the facilities required for daily life of Students. We have hospital, hotels, etc in the campus itself. While it is situated far from City and movie goers might regret it but otherwise campus is self sufficient. People can play badminton, basketball, etc till night. We have gyms for fitness freaks too. Hostel common room itself has facilities for TV, Table Tennis and Carrom. Newer Hostels are also included with a common reading room. The library remains open.
Our mess is slightly better than the average as conceived by common folks. Also, we have night canteens during exam times for convenience of students. Being far from city is not felt when campus is attached with Tripura State Rifles, establishment having superb garden and canteen open for students.
Infrastructure of college is very good .Facilities provided by the college is nice .Food is very hygenic and healthy.Facilities given in classeooms, hostels, libraries, sports centre and hostel is very nice .

There is a vast improvement in the facilities provided in this year compared to that of previous years. The whole campus is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity. Recently, they opened a sports complex with indoor stadiums and swimming pool. The hostels were spacious with good ventilation.
The faculty in our college are very experienced and caring. They encourage and support us throughout the course. The curriculum was satisfactory. The curriculum includes a library and sports periods. The schedule was exceptionally good with separate timings for theory and practicals
Placements in NIT Agartala are pretty good. Core companies and PSUs visit the campus to conduct placements, but the packages offered by companies at NIT Agartala are not as reputed as other premier institutes. Every year, the placement statistics are getting better.

All events, fest are celebrating all students together in the auditorium hall. Senior students are fraindly behaviour of junior students. Campus surroundings are very beautiful. Scholarships are available for SC, ST, OBC & general students who belongs poor family.
its good experience in this college

Hostel facility is also superb. Quality in mess food is just average. In campus, NIT hospital is there. Separate sports complex is also available.
Teachers are very helpful, they are well qualified and knowledgeable. Almost everybody have there Ph.D. degree. There teaching process is also very good. This course is also appreciated by NBA team. Teachers are well prepared for lectures. But they cannot make the student ready for industry.
Placements in our college were outstanding. About 80% of the students got placed. The highest salary package offered was about 20 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was about 5 LPA. Lots of students got internships in Germany, Bangladesh, etc.
the fee structure is very less and differs on the basis of income certificate,so its worthy even there is no income certificate
since there is huge campus therefore i enjoy a lot here ,greenery lakes and beautiful parks makes campus life better
overall its a very good college in north east and India as well
Infrastructure is satisfactory and being developed. Wifi issues were there but the work was under progress. most of the facilities available with some time restraints . CSE and ECE building has its own beauty
I just had to go to a government college and there were counseling issues , that's why this is my course. Some faculties are real good but some lacks. The curriculum is updated as it covers competitive exams syllabuses .
If you are sincere and eligible you are gonna get placed . Don't have idea of this year due to covid pandemic. But previous year highest package went to ECE and CSE student of 21 lacs. The average salary is around 5 lacs
There are certain category for fee on the basis of economic background .For me it's around 1 lac and for me it's worth it
Sports life is available. Campus is quite big of 365 acres, but most of it needs to be developed . There is no night life. Location wise it's near the border of Bangladesh but there is no safety issue.
The atmosphere is loaded with moisture. Campus has its natural beauty all unplanned. Has the largest sports complex and many others

Except the PG students & faculty members ( 4gb/day), one B.Tech student can avail 2.5 gb/day high-speed internet facilities labs are well decorated with equipments & instruments. I choose this course as per my choice. Everything is good, but more core companies should visit campus. Tech fest Aayam, cultural fest moksha, Tech race, different clubs, good scholarship schemes are also there.and the fee is average and worthy

Separate hostels are present on the campus for both boys and girls. ATMs of multiple banks are available within the campus. There is an SBI branch available on the campus. The food offered in the hostel and canteen is good. The college provides Wi-Fi facilities in the hostel as well as on the campus. The college is located very near to the railway station. The college is easily accessible. Direct buses run from the college to the main city. Zero tolerance for ragging is observed in the college.
Faculty members are very good. All of them are well-qualified. Industry exposure provided is not much good. But things are changing now. Only a handful of seminars and a very few industry tours are organised. The student to faculty ratio is 5:1. The course curriculum is useful. Teachers are helpful round the clock.
Placements are average. During the placement drives conducted for the batch 2016-18, around 60% of the students were placed from campus, and the rest of the students were placed in the off-campus drives. Placement drives for the batch 2017-19 are yet to be organised. The average salary package offered was 2.4 LPA to 3 LPA. moksha which is the cultural fest of NIT, Agartala is organised in every January-February. There are 30 students in MBA course. The connectivity is good. City buses are available to travel from the college to Agartala city. Scholarships are provided only for the students who belong to SC/ST categories. a very good college in notrh east though its located in north east but it can beta many NITs because of its infrastructure and lab equipments.
The infrastructure of the college is great and has all the facilities which are required in the curriculum. There are sufficient Wi-Fi facilities and the laboratories which are required. There is also a library where students can collect their books as per the requirements. Hostels are also neat and clean. There are other facilities, like medical, sports and games.
Not all Teachers are Knowledgeable & Qualified but some of them are really superb. Teachers in our department are really helpful but some of them provide help which is more than required to their favourite students. I think all students should be treated equally. Teaching quality is below average. Teachers Should be more concerned about teaching practical aspects of the subject and making us understand the application of the subject in industry, rather than bringing a copy (notes), writing on th

its nice college
Hey Jatin:)
Thanks for reaching out!
If biotechnology at NIT Agartala is showing in the CSAB choice filling portal,it means you can select it but that doesn't always means seats are available. CSAB portal shows all branches including those with zero vacancies. However, since this branch is not listed in the PDF released by CSAB it likely means there are no vacant seats right now.
CSAB still allows you to fill such choices so that if a seat becomes available later due to someone withdrawing or reshuffling, you can still be considered for it.
Note: It's advisable to include such options but make sure to keep branches with confirmed availability higher in your list incase no vacancy opens up later.
Hope this clears your query!
That's a very specific and important question to ask during the CSAB special rounds. The discrepancy between what you see on the choice-filling portal and the official PDF document is a common point of confusion for many students.
Here's the most accurate way to understand this situation:
The information displayed on the online choice-filling portal is generally considered the most up-to-date and authoritative source for seat availability during the counseling process. While the PDF documents released by CSAB are helpful for reference and as a general guide, the live data on the portal reflects the real-time status of vacant seats.
Therefore, if NIT Agartala's Biotechnology branch is showing up as a choice available in your portal, it means there are indeed vacant seats for you to fill for that particular branch and category.
There could be several reasons for this kind of discrepancy:
Real-time updates: The online portal is dynamically updated. As students surrender their seats, withdraw from the process, or have their seat allocations canceled for various reasons, those seats become vacant and are immediately added to the available choices for the subsequent rounds. The PDF documents, on the other hand, are static. They are published at a specific point in time and might not reflect the most recent changes.
Tentative nature of PDFs: The PDF for vacant seats is often released as a "tentative seat vacancy." The document itself might even state that candidates can fill choices that are not listed in the table, further reinforcing that the online portal is the primary source of truth.
Category-specific vacancies: The PDF might show a general overview, while the online portal will show the specific seats available to you based on your category (e.g., General, OBC, SC, ST) and other criteria like state quota. A seat might be vacant in a category that wasn't mentioned in the general PDF but is open for you to apply for.
My recommendation is to trust the online choice-filling portal. If you see NIT Agartala's Biotechnology as an option, you should definitely consider adding it to your list of preferences if you are interested in that branch and college. The goal of CSAB special rounds is to fill all the remaining seats, and the online system is designed to facilitate this by showing all possible options to eligible candidates.
Yes, NIT Agartala does offer branch changes to first-year B.Tech students. The process for 2025-26 is likely to be similar to previous years, involving an online application portal, CGPA-based merit ranking, and seat availability considerations. While IIEST Shibpur may have closed its branch change option this year, NIT Agartala generally provides this opportunity.
