NIT Raipur Reviews on Infrastructure, Campus, Placement, Facilities & Faculty

College infrastructure is good with facilities. Classrooms are big enough along with projectors and smart boards. Central library is filled with books from all engineering courses. It also has a large reading room. Labs are good but a little small for a institute level lab. Hostels are separately made available for boys and girls. Canteen serves lunch and snacks at the campus.

All the teachers have a doctorate degree in their expertise. Most of them allow the students to interact with faculty during the class. There are two class tests and an end-semester examination in each semester.

Placements have been good last year but only in non core companies as none of the core companies visit the campus in recent times. Most of the jobs offered are for roles of programmer, software developer, data analyst by the IT companies. Average package offered was 5-6 LPA.

B.Tech. course in any of the department costs around 5.59 Lacs. Fee relaxation is also available for financilly backward students.

College infrastructure is neat but the inside of main administrative building is kind of puzzling to find the classrooms. Classrooms are average to good with smart boards or projectors installed. Labs are mostly efficient in all the required materials during practicals. Hostels are there for both boys and girls. 24/7 WiFi facility is available for the students of institute.

Quality of teaching varies from faculty to faculty. But every one of them are diligent in teaching the students about the subject. Course curriculum does not review changes but still has the relevance.

Placements have been going good in the department. However, core companies are still not visiting the campus for recruitment. All the students placed, are with knowledge of programming and hence IT companies recruit them.

Course fee is relatively low in the institute. Course fee is 5.52 Lacs for the B.Tech. course. Institute offers both the facility and its name to the students. NITs has its own reputation in the country in the engineering industry.

Central Computer Centre (CCC) is the pride of the institute. Hostels are not capable of accommodating all the students and hence most of them reside outside the campus privately. Clubs and committees are so many in the institute.

Infrastructure is plain average. Classroom is big with projectors installed. Labs have both new and old machines and circuitry. Library has a reading room for students to study. Hostels are scarce as compared to number of students. WiFi connectivity spans all over the campus. Canteen is renovated. Store in the campus for daily requirements and basic stationery. Separate football and cricket grounds along with basketball and badminton courts.

I am in the Electrical department of the college. In the first year, all the teachers used to focus on theoretical teaching i.e. doing a lot of writing work. New curriculum has been introduced in 2019. Students go on to participate in mass bunks occasionally. Sometimes teachers are unable to complete the syllabus in time and hence students have to prepare the left ones by themselves.

Recent placement was better than previous years. Highest package offered in EE was 14 LPA. Average package was found to be near 6 LPA. Nearly every student get the placement opportunity in IT, Software, Business Analyst etc. Core companies offer jobs to few candidates.

I got a facilitation of fee concession due to my family's income. Total fee that need to be covered in 4 years of the B.Tech. engineering course is 5.52 Lacs. Students with poor financial background get a concession in fees by providing the income certificate of the annual family income. Scholarships are also available for students of backward castes.

Societies are established at NIT Raipur responsible for different aspects of college life. NSS, Sahyog ( The Mentorship Club) help the students in need of academic difficulties. NCC is also a part of the college. Students of all courses and batches are encouraged to participate in sports. Different sports teams participate in Inter-NIT sports championship. Annual fests are organized all year of the clubs and committees.

Institute comprises administrative building dedicated to engineering courses. Classrooms have good space with well maintained seating facility. There are two grounds for football and cricket along with basketball and badminton courts. Separate hostels are available for boys and girls. WiFi is provided 24/7 at college as well as hostel. There is a canteen and a regular utility store in the campus. Central library houses all kinds of books pertaining to engineering courses.

Faculties are experienced with their respective subjects and have been teaching for a long time. Particularly for my department, some of the faculties may not be able to make the subjects interesting but still put their heart in teaching the students. Curriculum is updated according to the recent industry requirements.

Placement drive in the department is not one of the best in the college. Highest package offered in the college is 32 lakhs to the CSE department. Average salary offered in Biomedical course is 4-5 lakhs. Training and Placement Office assists students in landing the on-campus placements and internships outside.

Fee in the course costs 5.52 lacs for students whose annual family income is greater than 5 lacs. Students with annual family income less than 5 lacs and greater than 1 lac get remission of 2/3rd of the tuition fee. Students whose annual family income is less than 1 lac get full remission of the tuition fee.

NIT Raipur hosts a number of events and fests all year round. Eclektica, the annual cultural fest, Aavartan, the annual technical fest, Samar, annual sports fest etc. Seminars and workshops are organized for the welfare of students. Students can engage their skills in different clubs and committees such as Robotics club, Sanskriti ( Cultural committee), Technocracy (Technical Committee), Shaurya ( Sports Committee) and more.

National Institute of Technology Raipur has two main buildings housing the different departments. One is devoted for engineering courses while the other whole is for architecture department. Classrooms are spacious with some equipped with ACs. Institute has central library with a reading room for students. Sports centre is located near football ground and basketball court. Hostels are available for both boys and girls. There is a utility store and snack stores besides a beautiful canteen.

I am a student of B.Tech. in mining engineering. Faculties here, are well experienced in their teaching expertise. Faculties do not incline towards any particular section of class. Course curriculum is updated often by the opinion of professors and board of directors. Each semester comprises of two class tests and an end-sem examination.

Placements tend to only improve in the recent years. 70% of the students get placed in on-campus placements including core as well as non-core offers. Highest package is offered is 32 lacs to the students from CSE and IT department. Average salary is offered in the range of 5-6 lacs. Training and Placement Cell assist the students in their placements and internships as well.

Course costs 1,40,000 Rs. every year in all bachelor engineering courses. But there is a provision of remission of fee for students whose annual family income is low. Students with family income less than 5 lacs and greater than 1 lac need to pay 48,000 Rs. Candidates with annual family income less than 1 lac need to pay 4500 Rs.

There are two gardens at the institute. Various clubs and committees are there like robotics club, entrepreneurship cell, cultural committee,dance club, drama club, innovation cell and more. Frequent seminars and workshops are organised for the students in different fields. NIT Raipur is a hub of college fests with many fests such as Eclektica, cultural fest, Aavartan, technical fest, Shruti, music fest and robo fest.

Classrooms are readily maintained along with a new addition of smart boards. Laboratories are well equipped with all the essential instruments required according to the course curriculum. Central library encompasses most of the books for reading as well as issuing purpose. It also facilitates the use of a number of computers for students. WiFi extends only to the main building with a speed of 3-4 mbps. Hostels are also enabled with high speed WiFi. But hostels are scarce for both boys and girls.

I am currently pursuing B.Tech in Biotechnology. I chose this field because I had an underlying interest in biology and this course enticingly incorporates engineering and biology. Most faculties pay a lot of attention to the academics of each and every student. Some faculties may fail to make the subjects interesting, or even understandable. Curriculum wise, it tends to get updated but not so often. Sadly it does not include all the recent developments in the field.

Quality of placements in the college is average. Percentage placement is never 100. It ranges from 60-70% which includes both core and non-core placements. Pre placement offers are also bagged by some students. Highest package offered last year was 32.5 lakhs per annum. It was offered to students from CS/IT branches. Average salary offered is between 4-5 lakhs per annum. College backs the students in any kind of bad circumstances during the placements.

For every department, course fee for the first two years is around 1,30,000 Rs. For the next two years, it is 74,150 Rs. There is also a provision of fee remission for students with family earning low income less than 5 lakhs pa and 1 lakh pa. It kind of pays, after all you are studying in one of the national institutes of India.

Campus is located near the main city. It has football ground, basketball ground, badminton court and also consists of different sports equipments. There is the renovated canteen and a utility store for students' everyday needs. A lot of clubs and committees exist in the college ranging from cultural committee, drama club, literature club, dance club to entrepreneurship cell, innovation cell, robotics club and more. Teachers and other staff are supportive to the students under any complications.

Central Computer Center (CCC) is the charm of the institute with 400+ computers in 2019 and established 32nd ranked HPC system under supercomputers list of India. There was also the launch of French classes in the institute for students to learn a new language. A new provision also announces the rule of undertaking industrial visits in the 2nd year of the course which in turn will help the students gain base knowledge of real world industrial technology.
