The infrastructure is outstanding here at nit Rourkela. There is a total of 9 hostels of which 7 are for boys and 2 for girls. The campus is provided with a state or art network with 4000 nodes. The library is equipped with 60000 books with 750 casesstes. In each hostel badminton court is provided and in common room we get to see a television too.
The academics of this college is pretty average. Currently I am doing my btech degree in computer science. The courses or rather curriculum is still outdated and few branches are going to be introduced from next year. One thing is a plus over here ,professors will be available to solve your doutbs no matter how much time it takes.
For the 2021 batch , average package 9.36L and highest package was 45 L which was bagged by 3 students. It was given by Microsoft. Many offers for internships has been made by companies like microsoft, Bajaj auto, Citibank. 211 students selected for it. In my branch there is 100% placement.
Nit Rourkela is absolutely worth for its value for money. Because the fees spent in course of four years is very less as compared to the packages we get. In 8-9L our course is done and if you get fee remission then it would cost you around 3-5L depending on certain terms and conditions.
Nit Rourkela has a huge campus filled with greenery . There are food stalls inside the campus which stays open till midnight and is a place of attraction for the students. The college also has gymnasium with two instructors. In short the campus life is a very cool one and you can have a nice gala time over here.
Yes my college accommodates all the necessary infrastructure. There are two big sports field having array of sports so that students could choose according to their interest and keep themselves healthy. Environment is overall peaceful and greenary.
I'm currently pursuing BTech in biotechnology in NIT Rourkela. Revised syllabus remains always updated with recent developments happening in the relevant field . Quality of teaching is also good , the professors are mostly humble .
Percentage of students get placed vary from branch to branch . Placement and internship process has been made easy for the students by operating placement wing in the college itself . Mechanical and electronics course students get however 100% placed in some years .
Campus life is amazing there . One can get his/her life best memories while living there. Greenary environment and its location makes students to live there conveniently. There are every kind of areas to explore and get the passion boosted up.
The college do contain all the required infrastructure required to fulfill the purpose of the engineering college. It has the maximum branch of other colleges and the second biggest campus of India. NITR is currently working on wifi availability. The hostel food isn't great but yeah you can manage it. It basically depends on the hostel where one us staying. There are many hostels there.
The quality of teaching ranges from "ok" to "good". The professors are knowledgeable. But i think the curriculum needs to be updated. It has a lot of branch so students can opt for streams if their choice.
The placement for the circuital branch is veru good with an avg salary of 9lpa. But the placement in the non circuital branches lag behind with an avg salary of 6 lpa. ( Note - these are expected numbers. Official datas hasn't been shared yet).
Personally I feel the couse is a value for money deal taking the scope, placement, opportunities etc into account.
The campus life is great. A huge campus with extensive greenery and a group of friends around. It makes the the campus life extremely interesting and good.
Overall, I would say NITR is very good university. Being a institute of national importance has its own craze.
My college has all the necessary facilities and proper infrastructures. There is no issue when it comes to infrastructure and facilities. LAN connection is provided to all the students. The rooms are well cleaned and food is hygienic.
The academics is good. Professors are friendly enough and always ready to help. The college provides all the necessary facilities and guidance for academics and a better future ahead. The curriculum is up to date.
The placement is good. Maximum number of students get placed. But the package for other branches except CS is a bit low. In civil branch the average package usually around 6 to 10 lacs per annum which is quite low as compared to CS branch.
Yes the college has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment that might be required for the student. The equipments are continuously maintained and are in good shape. The classrooms dont have a perfect ventilation but the coolers cover up for it. Yes the living spaces in hostels are clean and well maintained
Im a graduate from Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The quality of a few well knowledgeable professors are good where they inspire the students to fall in love with the subjects while the others are not that great
The quality of placements is good for the circuital branches while the non circuital branches suffer. The packages of students aren't what is expected from a national level college except for a few which are used for advertisements.
the cost of the course for a year is around 2 lakhs which and not its not worth the money
One of the best campus life u can have within the vast college space and its culture
All the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment are available like play ground, gym, swimming pool, wife, common room, libraries etc. Hostel food is hygienic but quality is ok ok. They are all used and well- maintained.
My dream is a engineering so I joined Nit Rourkela. Because nit rourkela is a most reputed college in engineering field. Teacher quality is also good. But academic pressure is little more on btect students.
Placement is good in nit rourkela. Almost 95%students are placed in college. Average package around 9 to 10 lpa. Placement process is too easy in nit rourkela. Some faculty are support during Placement.
Nit rourkela fee is around 2lac per year including hostel and mess fee.
Outstanding life.
Good experience.
It is best college among all NITs in terms of infrastructure for labs, advance, research equipment and other activities like sports, extra curricular etc.Classroms are spacious and plenty in number.Library is huge, may be the largest in odisha. There are 8 boys hostel and 2 ladies hostel.Have separate mess and outstanding food quality.it is completely green campus.
The faculties are very experienced and supportive.A lot of research and development works are carried out and many papers are published. The curriculum is updated with present needs.use of digital platform using smart class is also done. The central library has almost all books required for students.
Training and placement cell looks over the placements at college. Many big companies like TATA,Microsoft,Qualcomm,Isro and many more come for recruitment. The placement process very well organized and placement coordinator are very supportive.M.tech structures placements was good and 80% of students were placed.Highest salary package was 40Lpa for computer engineering.
Yeah,I feel my money is getting worthy because my college gives me lot of practical knowledge and outstanding technical skills. Not only in studies my faculty will give same priority to extra-curricular activities.
Very big campus(approx 1200 acres).Almost all facilities available inside campus but not much to do outside.Good senior junior interaction, rich club culture.Opportunities to participate in sports, cultural, technical activities.
It is completely green campus with peaceful environment.
The infrastructure of NIT Rourkela is one of the best among top colleges in India. The whole campus is filled with a lot of greenery which makes the surrounding peaceful. The new 14 floor building at the centre of premises is like icing on the cake. The campus has nine hall of residence with facilities like Air-conditioned reading rooms, TV Room, Gym, ground, badminton court, etc. The campus has its own medical centre, swimming pool, central library, central gym, indoor courts and so on.
The faculties are very experienced and supportive. A lot of Research and development works are carried out and many papers are published. The curriculum is updated with present needs. Use of digital platform using smart class is also done. The central library has almost all books required for students.
Training and placement cell looks over the placements at college. Many big companies like TATA, Microsoft, Qualcomm, ISRO, L&T, and many more come for recruitment. The placement process very well organised and placement coordinator are very supportive. M.Tech Structures placement was good and 80% of students were placed. Highest salary package was 40Lpa for computer engineering.
M. Tech course cost around 80k per semester but the facilities provided are worth the fees paid because of the soothing environment, top-class infrastructure facilities, hygienic food, clean campus, sports facilities, competitive environment and good placement record.
The college campus is a dream for many students. The best thing about the campus is its clean and safe environment with lots of colourful flowers and green trees. A student can easily access all the facilities provided by the institute for self-development. A student activity centre is specially developed to improve co-curricular activities. The students are encouraged to build sportsmanship qualities. The college is present in Rourkela city of Orissa which is a small city with many importance.
I enjoyed the hostel life, the most. The college helped me a lot in self-development and taught me new skills.
One of the best among all NITs in terms of infrastructure for labs, advanced research equipment and other activities like sports, extra curriculars etc. Classrooms are spacious and plenty in number. Library is huge, may be the largest in Odisha. There are a 8 boys hostels and 2 ladies hostels. Have separate mess and food quality is ok. And the environment is clean
Quality of academics is pretty good if not the best. Almost all faculty members are PhDs from reputed institutes both from India and abroad. NIT Rourkela has the highest research output in terms of publications in peer reviewed journals and total number of citations. Academic Curriculum was recently updated to make it for flexible and match industry standards. Biggest negative point is the ultra stringent attendance policy with 85% mandatory attendance in classes.
About placements is overall good.if Only major disadvantage is location. Lack of a functional airport in Rourkela acts as an obstacle for some companies to visit campus. Average CTC approximately 7 LPA in my batch with highest being 42 LPA. And overall every student get placement
General: 6.27 Lakhs Scheduled Caste: 1.27 Lakhs Scheduled Tribe: 1.27 Lakhs . Fee is little bit high but if you are from scheduled caste then fee is feasible for you. And also apply for different scholarship
Very big campus (approx 1200 acres). Almost all facilities available inside campus but not much to do outside. And as every college have inter college competition our college also have some group activities, webinar, seminar are held here
My experience is totally good here as a btech i like this college for education quality . You are local here then it's more beneficial for you
Nit Rourkela has beautiful campus along with mountains and greenaries. It provide you with all the infrastructures, laboratories, lan facilities, playgrounds and best library. Hostels are clean and food is good. There are canteens , stores and restaurants inside the campus that will provide you everything you need.
I am Mtech final year student studying in Power Electronics and Drives specialization, Electrical department. Quality of teaching is good and encourages research work. For placements in core sector, there are less companies. But you can apply for other sector jobs as well.
Companies like General electric, Qualcomm, Schneider came for placement but due to current situation they recruited very less number of students. Average package for IT sector companies are 6 to 8 lpa. Internship offers are also there for intrested students.
Course cost approximately 70 to 80k per semester, exemptions are there for ST and SC students. Also stipend of amount 12400 Rs is given to all the Mtech students from MHRD. Stipend money is enough to pay the fees and monthly expenses.
Campus is the best part . Its surrounded by nature and weather is lovely during winter. Students and staffs are supportive. Its completely safe for girls even during night. Campus has proper medical facilities for emergency. And you will the badminton court if are intrested in playing.
Just enjoy the time in campus ,I am sure you will miss this once you are gone .
Good Morning,
NIT Rourkela CAT cutoff range is between 70-85 percentiles for the general category. 70 is the minimum percentile needed to apply, and 85 is the highest percentile. However, the maximum percentile depends on the particular year competition. It can be changed.
Thank You.
Hello,
With 99 percentiles in JEE Main and OBC-NCL category under Odisha home state quota, your chances for CS at NIT Rourkela are quite low CS cutoff usually stays around 99.6–99.8 percentile for OBC candidates.
However, you may get other good branches like EEE, Mechanical, or Civil in NIT Rourkela, or CS in lower-ranked NITs. Try to aim for 99.7+ percentile for CS there.
Hope you understand.
HELLO,
If you are considering M.tech in Industrial refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering at NIT Rourkela then let me tell you that it will be a great choice if you are inclined towards thermal engineering, refrigeration systems or research in cryogenics
Here are some details points so you can understood better :-
1.This program is offered under the Mechanical Engineering and it is quite specialized and the curriculum is well structured and includes advance subjects . The labs are well equipped and there is good exposure to work practically which will be a positive point.
2.For admissions you need to attend GATE + CCMT counselling and the seat intake is limited to 15, so it is quite competitive
3.If i tell you about placements so that is also good because students from this specialization have received good offers with some average package around Rs 9.5 LPA
4.Cryogenic engineering finds applications in various industries , including agriculture , marine, welding and food processing
5.NIT Rourkela is well ranked in india particularly in the engineering field
