Master of Commerce Honors also known as M.Com Hons is a postgraduate degree program in the field of commerce, accounting and management. The duration of M.Com (Hons) course is two years, which is divided into four semesters. M.Com Hons first year contains two semesters followed by two in second year. Eligibility for direct admission:
Based on the merit position in the B.Com (H) course, the admission merit list will be prepared for general and reserved category candidates.
Aspirants must complete B.Com (Hons) by securing the minimum percentage as specified by the respective conducting authority. The minimum percentage required is different for general and reserved category candidates.
For admission to M.Com Hons. in Delhi University, one must have passed B.Com Hons with 65% if belongs to General category. In case of OBC and CW & PWD categories, candidates must secure at least 58.5% and 60%, respectively.
While, the minimum passing marks of the qualifying examination will be considered as the qualifying marks for SC and ST candidates.
Eligibility for admission through entrance examination:
Aspirants will be shortlisted on the basis of rank secured in the entrance examination conducted by the particular authority. Following are the eligibility criteria which must be met.
PG applicants must have studied B.Com (Hons) and have passed it with specific marks or percentile as asked by the authority. These minimum requirements differ for each category.
For instance, admission to the Department of Commerce in University of Delhi in M.Com will also be done through an entrance test. General category candidates must secure at least 50% in the undergraduate level.
The minimum percentage for OBC and CW as well as PWD candidates is 45%, while for SC and ST aspirants the minimum passing marks will be considered for qualifying exam.
M.Com (Hons) Admissions
As discussed earlier, the admission to M.Com Hons. degree will be done either on the basis of merit position or entrance examination. This means, several universities/institutes conduct a separate exam for admission to M.Com Honors degree, while some grant through cutoff list. However, there are some institutes or universities which admit aspirants on the basis of both merit and exam.
In all these cases, candidates are required to follow M.Com (Hons) admission process, which starts with application form, followed by admit card, conduct of exam, result and counselling. It is important for aspirants to fill the application form of M.Com Hons, after checking the eligibility criteria. The application form must be submitted in the prescribed mode and within the time period specified.
PG applicants whose applications will be accepted by the authority can download M.Com (Hons.) admit card. The hall ticket must be downloaded and carried at the exam centres for verification. The detailed name and address of the exam centre will be mentioned in the admit card. Along with it, the other relevant document should be carried by the candidates.
On M.Com (Hons) exam date, one has to be careful that he/she does not break any rule. No restricted items should be carried at the centre for the test.
