Actually, due to this pandemic we haven't been to college . But as i am living in Rourkela i have been to nit before and i know about its facilities and infrastructure. They are having a good set of facilities and equipments . As we haven't been to classes so i cant figure out the maintenance of facilities. but it is a good hygenic place.
I am a chemical student. the quality we got through online classes is good . actually i am in first year so i can't be job ready now ,it will take me 4 years more to be ready. yes<curriculum is updated
placements are good here . most of the students are placed in various companies . highest goes for microsoft nearly 40 lakhs p.a., mainly it goes to cse stream. avg is 9-12 lakhs p.a. i havent given a interview.
around 1 lakh ; yes its worth it.
various events and ceremonies are performed. various clubs are here for different activities , staff are really nice. location is safe and secured .
I have been to the college and took a good tour two years back. The infrastructure, facilities, and equipments (gym, pool, etc.) are in great condition. The classrooms have smart boards which the professors frequently and regularly use, libraries have WiFi, sport centres are well maintained and hostels have a lot of facilities like, gym, badminton courts, a good common room, studying room, etc. The only issue is the rooms are a little small.
My branch is mechanical engineering and I am studying it because I was always fascinated by it. The quality of teaching is great, the professors are well educated and thoroughly accomplished in their field. The curriculum is updated as much as I know. The professors encourage us to keep up with the recent developments in the field. I am in first year so I am not sure about the job ready.
From what I have heard, the placements are great, some have better than the others because of the job opportunities in Orissa. I am not sure about the exact numbers but the percentage was quite nice and the average was better than the last time.
It costs me 2 lakhs per annum, and with all the facilities we get and the education quality I guess the value for money is very good.
We haven't actually had College life but from the seniors we have heard that it's quite great, we get to make a lot of friends and participate in a lot of activities, there are different clubs and events which we can participate in. The teachers are helpful and the students are jovial. The location is safe and there is a dispensary inside the campus and a hospital just next to the institute.
My experience with the college has been so good and I hope it stays this way.
Definitely yes!!! Whatever a student hopes from a college, it is there with a 300 acres campus area. A green campus with a very healthy pollution free atmosphere. The college has a very good library with vast number of books. Thv name of central library is Biju Patnaik Central Library (BPCL). Hostels are decent with a large number of students accommodation. Students can have a single or a shared room. Campus has a total 11 hostels, 7 boys hostel, 2 girls hostel and 2 married hostel.
Study is fine. Regular workshops are taken to cope up with the tech world. You can do a minor degree in any course of your wish if you haven't got your desired branch. College have many departments also very well developed extra curricular departments.
NITR has a very good student friendly placement cell. The highest placement was offered to CS. Though many students opt for further studies. The placement cell cope ups very well with industrial groups and research organizations.
Including tuition fee, hostel, mess charges, the total fee for 4 years will be 8.17lakhs for a general category student and accordingly less for students of different category as per government norms.
The college has a very beautiful campus. Students can join in different clubs of their choice like sports, tech, cultural, drama, etc. Every student has been alloted a mentor who guides them time to time about different aspects of college life. It has a very safe and healthy atmosphere.
The infrastructure is amazing, the campus has a large area and almost all the facilities are available. The campus is also beautiful and has a lots of greenery. It also has great sports facilities like cricket ground, football ground and a world class swimming pool.
I am a student of integrated M.Sc. Mathematics. The curriculum is also great, it covers almost all of the important topics like real analysis, complex analysis, topology etc.. The teachers are amazing, they teach very well and also makes the concept clear.
The placements is amazing as it is one of the best NITs. The highest package of maths branch last year was around 30 lacs and also the placement percentage is great. Not only that if someone wants to do research there are some great research facilities in which our seniors have joined.
The fee structure is balanced, it is not too much and there are also scholarship facilities available.
The campus is amazing, there are great facilities for recreation, there is a student activity centre and also it has a great club culture.
The college has all the infrastructure, facilities and equipment required by the students. Classrooms are well equipped with projectors and laboratories have all the instruments needed for experiments. All the rooms are well maintained.
The teachers are all well-experienced and have a wide expression of teaching the students. 'The ways of evaluation of student's work is also very well done. The curriculum is regularly updated by the academic deans and director.
As far as placements go, NITs stand at fine position in the nation-wide ranking. And NIT Rourkela is the second topmost NIT all over India. So we need not worry for a nice placement until you follow the curriculum perfectly.
My fee was quite above 2 lakh in case of no reservation. But I feel it was worth it.
The college has a good infrastructure. The building here are very good. The environment of the college is excellent. There is a building for every branch. Hostel here are very good. The environment is well maintained.
Professor here teach very well. They are very friendly. They clear all doubts. There is a slow pace course for the students who are weak in there studies. the environment for studying here is very well maintained.
Placement for my branch is very good. The students get very well placement after studying from national institute of technology rourkela. They get placement from all big companies. NIT Rourkela placements 2020 have witnessed a total of 909 job offers.
Fee structure is managable
Hostel life is very well
This is best nit forever and best education system than other nits.and also it follows more discipline and prefect human being .and this college is also good for acting, dancing, sports and other physical activity.
I am studying chemistry because our interest is in chemistry.we got well experienced and perfect teacher.they also teach me how to do our study regarding branches and how to got placement in nit Rourkela .
The quality of placement in our college is very good but not good for integrated MSc courses.becuse we have seen student review in placement for intregeted MSc courses.but overall placement is very good .
Course cost is very costly for our branch
Still I have not reach at the compus
Poor student help line for financial management
This college is than what I expected it to be,Having the largest infrastructure in my home state odisha and the largest and marked as the 2nd best nit after nit trichi having a larger infrastructure than nit trichi..it is a whole city in itself. My friends have gone to Nit rourkela in a cultural fest and they never wanted to return because of the magical vibe nit Rourkela have in itself.
There are some ground rules which ensures your proper effort on your academics. The 85% attendance rule and continuous evaluation by our professors make sure you give your best. Professors are very friendly in case of doubt session and quite strict in case of class discipline. you can also change your branch if you get a good cgpa in your first year.
Being the 2nd best nit in the world, there was never the doubt of placement I guess. All you need to do is to be consistent with your academics and explore the hidden version of yourself. Placement is mainly depend on what you did in the previous 4 years of your btech degree.
It provides scholarship for the students who deserve it and In all 4 years combined the total money you invest in hostel and studies will be less than 7.5 lakhs at max, which you can easily recover in the first year of placement
Campus Life is like a going to a rollercoaster ride full of enjoyment..I loved it.it is something I will never forget. I have made more memories in this four years more than I did in the last 12 years of school life
NIT ROURKELA has got one of the best infrastructure. It's food is really hygienic and food menu changes according to student's review. It has really clean corridors and hostels. Infrastructure is cleaned every now and then .
The quality of teaching is really nice and teacher's take good care of the doubts asked by students. Our internships and other activities makes us job ready thereby making it better . The quality of teaching is really good.
95% of the students get placed in NITR and the rest 5% opt for abroad Studies. The college teachers and seniors are really supportive. The placement are carried smoothly by teachers and other staff. Hence overall it's good
My course costs around Rs. 2 lakhs. Yes the money's worth it. I feel great in the college and it's fun being in the college campus. The money is worth it and makes us ready in every way to face the challenges coming forward.
The campus life is amazing with great infrastructure and greenery around in the whole campus. The campus is one of the largest and beautiful too. It is safe and can handle emergency with so co-operative staffs here.
Students involve in co-curricular activities and many clubs according to their choices and interest. NSS and Physical education are some compulsory courses in the first year which are truly a privilege in disguise.

Dear student,
If you're passionate about design and have a decent JEE Main rank, the choice between
ISDI Mumbai (Product Design)
and
NIT Rourkela (B.Tech in Industrial Design)
comes down to your goals.
ISDI Mumbai is a pure design institute focused on creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning. The program emphasizes real-world projects, portfolio building, and exposure to Mumbai’s design industry. It’s best for those who want a career in creative design , user experience, or product innovation. Admission is based on the ISDI Challenge , not JEE.
NIT Rourkela
, on the other hand, offers a design-oriented B.Tech that blends engineering and product design. It’s a good fit if you're looking for a
technical degree with a design element
. The course includes CAD, UX, manufacturing, and product development. Admission is through
JEE Main and JoSAA
, with strong placements and a top-tier campus.
Your decision should align with whether you see yourself as a
designer first
or an
engineer with design skills
.
Take your time
