National Institute of Technology (NITR) is a premier Institute on Engineering learning . It has every advanced campus in the country . It has very good structure of academic. sports and infrastructure i.e. hospitalities etc. Hostel facilities are available for a large number of student. There are separate hostel for boys and girls with modern facilities like gym, swimming and can vary from single room to sharing and ac to non ac and there are 11 hostels with canteen and a central library.
I am a1st year B.tech student of Electrical Engineer .NITR gives a chance to to student to change their branch according to the CGPA. the attendance of the institute has a strict attendance policy of 85% attendance required. after the completion of 1st year with required grade students study in the respective branch course. NITR also provides a chance to take minor courses if you had a good CGPA in the 1st year. the teaching quality of the teachers vary according to the interest.
The placement of the college is very good . about 85 to 90% of student got job opportunity in the last year. The IT sectors provides more placement chances than the other sectors. The highest package provided by the ADOBE is about 45 LPA. The average package of salary is around 8 LPA. So there is good chance of finding job here.
for a general student the fee is about 2 lakhs for a year with the hostel fee, however this varies fo Sc,St,EWS and other category student. Value for money is good as NITR provides a good campus life with good infrastructure. ,seminar ,tech fest, clubs etc
It has the second most largest campus after IIt kharagpur among the IITs and NITs.it has the Asia's largest library named after Mr. Biju Patnaik. Along with the Btech there is also PhD, Mtech, Integrated Msc and BSc,MBA etc. there is 24 *7 health facility available in the campus.NITR also promots extra curricular activities under the leadership of SAC under this there many clubs for drama, coding, art, literacy and culture. It has a large no of aluminies who encourage the students time to time
NITR has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and all the equipment required by the students. Each Hostel hall is equipped with good quality mess halls, gymnasium, a good Lan connection. The class rooms are equipped with all the the basic facilities required by the students. Food provided in the mess is good and hygienic and campus is very well maintained and is very beautiful .
I am currently studying Mechanical engineering because I love Mechanics and want to learn how the machinery works. The quality of teaching is very good and thorough lectures are given by professors. The curriculum is very well updated and includes almost every new topic related to mechanical engineering like mechatronics. The study along with good practical work makes us job-ready.
The placements are very good at NITR. Above 90% students are placed. The highest salary offered was 43 lpa for the computer science stream. The average salary for 2020 was about 8-8.5 lpa. The college is very supportive for placements.
It costs about 2 lac. per year for me. Yes, it is totally worth the cost as the experience it provides and the facilities it provides are very good.
Campus life is very enjoying. Students can engage in various club activities and sports activities. The is something for almost everyone. The teachers and staff are very supportive. The campus has good sports clubs, tech clubs for the activities.
Experience at NITR is as exciting as a day in the amusement park. Good supportive professors and family like seniors makes studying in NITR very easy and enjoying.
NIT Rourkela have it's won hostel and academic hall with well furnished. It is a very good college with all facilities like digital classroom ,very good laboratory etc. It have it's won library with a very large number of book . In library there are many books like novel , encyclopedia, textbook for syllabus of college etc. There are all type of sports are playing in the college. The college have it's won play ground. In hostels the LAN for high speed internet connection.
I am studying in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering branch in NIT Rourkela. I choose this branch because I love electronics gadgets. Here professors are teaching with a very good quality. Yes my all curriculum is updated and includes all the recent development my field.
The college provides a very good placements with 90%. In 2020 Microsoft given 42 LPA to a students . it is highest placement of last year. There are hundreds of companies are coming to the collage to provide placement to students.
My course cost per year is Rs100000. It is very hard to pay the course for me . I am paying it my own. I am not getting any scholarship.
The campus have it's won best features and facilities . There are many club like redcode , codehub ,MCC , DESIGNTAB, AICHE, FSAE, ASTRO LEO etc.
NIT Rourkela is a wonderful college for B.Tech.
NIT Rourkela infrastructure is outstanding, it have very very large campus area, it is filled with greenery. The campus have so many sports facility and very big play ground.there is no problem with NETWORK Wi-Fi is fully available throughout the campus . Central library have full of books . Along with Education facility it provides so many co-curricula Activities . Main thing in the campus is it's Olympic size Swimming pool and Flood lights on ground .
I am studying in Electrical engineering branch. From My childhood I have a great interest in Electrical appliances and their working mechanism. And NIT rourkela is going to fulfill my dream and I have full confidence on my INSTITUTE that it should make my dream come true. The quality of education is excellent and teacher gave one to one guidance. Always teacher's are ready to clear all doubts of all students not only inside class but also beyond the college.
NIT rourkela provides almost 100% placements. Every type of companies comes to our college , including some Microsoft, google, adobe, amazon , and many more multi national companies. But I think companies should give a high package because this is really a excellent institute.
Obviously it is value for money. However the fees Is high but after getting job from this institution all things would be compromised. The companies provide a good packages after study, so I think no issues with fees. Even if there are so many scholarship.
Due to lock down I have nothing to say about campus life. But from other sources and from senior I headed that Campus life is good. Interaction with different types of people from different states and country provide a better communication skills.
Overall it is excellent, every facility including academics, sports, package, other competition, various club, and better communication skills with better people everything is excellent. Teachers gave one to one guidance which is rare in other technical institutes.
I have actually grown up in Rourkela. As per my knowledge it has the second largest engineering college campus in India. Hostels are good enough and so far as I know each of the first year boys hostels namely M. Visvesvaraya hall of residence and GD Birla hall of residence have mess connected to hostel itself. However the rooms of former hostel are little bit small. The classes take place in the lecture avenue which has large lecture halls. There are playgrounds for each and every sport.
Academics as I have heard from seniors is quite decent. I am currently pursuing B.Tech in mechanical engineering because I am quite interested in Mechanics. Most of the professors are old so they have good enough experience of teaching. But due to pandemic situation we are having online classes which has apparently given an impression of poor network connectivity. Further the curriculum is little bit orthodox, and I think it can be improvised to new curriculum wherein students get more scope.
The average placements have been better and is increasing from strength to strength every year. Some sources say that the highest packages are given only to software and circuital branches. But I learned from my mentor that students of mechanical branch are allowed to sit in software companies like Goldman Sachs. We get around 90% placements every year and average packages vary from 10-15 lpa in mechanical branch. The highest package has been around 42 lacs per annum.
The value for money rating is quite good. We are charged 124000 INR in first semester and 99000 INR in the second onwards and 102000 in the seventh semester which is decent enough when we see the facilities available. All students are provided with hostels even the localities can avail hostels which are basically 2 seaters rooms for boys hostels with good food quality. Then we have common gyms and badminton courts in every hostels so its worth the money we are paying.
The best features of the campus are it has a rule of mandatory bicycles for the students which makes the campus pollution free. The other things are the Bhubaneswar Behera auditorium, the golden jubilee building which is the highest building in Rourkela. The campus has 60-70 clubs under the SAC which provides us a platform to refine our extra curricular skills. Some teachers are really good and very friendly with students while others are hard taskmasters. The location has greenery all around.
I am waiting for the campus to open in physical mode so that can explore the campus more.
Yes my college offers world class oppurtunities than many other premiere instutes of india . We are given free wifi in the campus . Also there is a big library , olympic size swimming pool and gymnasium. The food provided here is very hygienic. The mess is well maintained and the hostels here are very large and cleaned regularly.
I am pursueing Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Rourkela and the updated curricullum is really helping us a lot to be job ready . The teachers here are very helpfull . they will always clear your doubt whenever you ask doubt regrding any topic .Online classes are also well organised.
The placements of our college is very good and various types of tech companies come to NITRkl . Mostly tech companies offer high packages and about 90% of students were placed .the highest package offered is about 40 lakhs and it was of CSE. the average salary offered is 10-12 lakh. the college is very supportive in placements.
The course cost is about 1 lakh per annum including the mess and hostel facillities. It is quite good value for money for reservation candidates and also general students . Also better than few IIT's . therefore it is really interesting for us to get world class facilities in a that amount of money.
The campus life is very much interesting and is full of activites . The college regularly conducts fests which are full of activities and enjoyment. the students ,teachers and support staff are vey good and supportive . the location very much feasible from railway station and markets . emergencies can be handled very easily.
It was dream come true for those who wanted a good college to fulfil all the requirement of being a good engineering and research purpose . therfore oppurtunity to study in nitrkl should not be missed at any cost because you will not find such facilities in Odisha and one of top colleges of India .
Infrastructure is very good with a huge campus spread across 700 acres surrounded with lush green surroundings. All the modern facilities are available with awesome facilities.Campus has almost everything to offer.
Good teachers with nice teaching skills. All the teachers are highly qualified and have good amount of knowledge and experience. The study curriculum is as per the updated schedule.Only thing is that some teachers are not quite good with English communicative skills.
Almost 85-90% placements are available every year with the highest placement ranging from 45-50 lakhs. The average is around 10 lakhs per annum.Students have option to choose from a wide variety of companies for their job preference.
Around 80k per year.Yes it's absolutely worth the money.
Campus Life is also quite too good. All are cooperatuve with zero ragging environment.Students can also get engaged in various extracurricular activities apart from studies.
Also it can be said that it's one of the best campus in India.
Infrastructure wise, one of the best NITs. Has good labs, classrooms, sport facilities, library, etc. Has a swimming pool, also decent hostels. Sports facilities include football grounds, cricket ground, gym, etc. Library is one of a kind with huge collection of books.
Academics is good, but teaching methodology seems slightly outdated. Standard reading from the slides is not what one expects at this prestigious college. Sometimes, the teachers lack enthusiasm in their subject.
Placements are decent. CSE if brilliant, obviously. Many core companies visit as well. Apart from this several financial/analytics companies visit which are open for all branches. The training and placement cell does work hard.
Government subsidised college, obviously cheaper than private colleges.
Campus life depends not just on the great infrastructure, but the friends that you make. So far I've met some cool people who are all going to do great things in life.
Can't go wrong with this college. Definitely a top NIT.
The infrastructure is quite good here.NIT Rourkela is a huge campus and in terms of facilities has a lot of offer many branch departments are well developed and have spacious classrooms, labs with good ventilation, air conditioned library and good wifi connection.
I studying b.tech mechanical engineering because in my childhood I was interested in automobiles designing. The course curriculum is student-friendly but the time table of the courses is very rigid you can't even take leave for 6 days in a semester. Mainly blackboard teaching is done by the faculty members here, which is the best teaching method. Video lectures are also taken. The teachers are well qualified and the curriculum is very useful in every aspect.
NIT Rourkela provides pretty decent placements. The package offered are high compared to other private engineering colleges. The highest package was offered by PSUs,BPCL around 12 LPA while the average package remained at 5.5 LPA and the lowest was 3.8 LPA.
1 lakh
Here campus life good. Good labs and workshop is there . Religion not major problem. All students are good friends and respect religion of other students. No political issues are allowed we have a very strict administration and the ultimate decision is taken by the Senate . Labs are well equipped with instruments.
No
College infrastructure is one of the major reason choosing NIT,Rourkela over other colleges. The campus have great sport facilities and swimming pool. The classrooms are quite spacious and well maintained. The campus have a good green environment.
Academics is maintained to be at par with other top colleges in India. In first year every teacher is teaching us quite good and helping us by proving pdfs. They are quite friendly and solve any doubts we ask.
Placement in NIT rourkela is improving every year. The highest placement is usually grabbed by CSE student. There are no restrictions generally in placement on the basis of branch. The percentage of student placed is always quite high.
Yes it is value for money. It cost around 2 lakh per year from a general student. It is worth is cause the infrastructure and academics we get in return is very good. The hostel is well maintained. The facilities we are able to use makes the fees more worth.
Campus life is a major factor for student for choosing NIT Rourkela. It have great sports facilities and food outlets. Students can engage in many club activities. There are many clubs engaging in various field of interests. The teacher and support staff are quite friendly.

IIT vs NIT Tag
IITs have a prestigious reputation, known for academic excellence and strong alumni networks. IIT graduates often secure higher placements and easier access to higher education opportunities abroad.
NITs are also excellent institutions, offering strong programs and opportunities, although they might not carry the same brand recognition as the older IITs.
Ultimately, the "best" option is subjective and depends on individual priorities and goals. It is recommended that your friend research both programs thoroughly, consider their interests, and perhaps consult with professors or professionals in both fields to make an informed decision.
Dear student,
If you're passionate about design and have a decent JEE Main rank, the choice between
ISDI Mumbai (Product Design)
