My daughter has got 99.67 percentile in MHCET and might secure a seat in electronics in COEP and VJTI. She has also got a seat alloted in IIIT Pune for electronics and VIT Vellore in electronics vlsi design I would like to know out of the four ie COEP VJTI IIIT Pune and VIT Vellore which should I prefer for electronics specifically for vlsi semiconductor. I am confused between COEP VJTI and VIT Vellore as IIIT Pune is still a newer institute and is on the outskirts of Pune City.
Hello Dear Student,
For a student specifically interested in Electronics, VLSI, and Semiconductors , my preference order would be:
- Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (Electronics)
- College of Engineering Pune (Electronics)
- Vellore Institute of Technology (Electronics and VLSI Design)
- Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune (ECE)
Why?
- VJTI and COEP have a much stronger legacy, alumni network, industry recognition, and lower fees than VIT. They are among Maharashtra's most respected engineering institutions.
- For core electronics careers, alumni network matters a lot because internships, referrals, and higher studies opportunities often come through seniors.
- VJTI's location in Mumbai provides excellent access to industry, startups, and research opportunities.
Between VJTI and COEP:
- If the goal is VLSI/Semiconductor Design , I would slightly prefer VJTI Electronics .
- If the goal is a more balanced college experience with strong academics and campus life, COEP is equally attractive.
- The difference is small; both are excellent choices.
Regarding VIT Vellore Electronics & VLSI:
- The branch name is attractive and specialized.
- VIT has strong infrastructure, labs, and recruiter presence.
- However, the batch size is very large, which increases competition for opportunities.
- VLSI companies generally recruit based on skills rather than branch title alone. A VJTI or COEP Electronics student can pursue exactly the same semiconductor career path.
Hope it helps!
