Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Italian
The eligibility criterion is similar as in most of the universities with a few variations.
1. At Undergraduate level
A candidate should qualify 10+2 by a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks.
The aspirant must be at least 17 years old.
2. At Postgraduate level
The candidate should hold a UG degree in the language to apply for PG.
For completing M.Phil. and a PhD doctorate in the same one has to pass masters with required percentages of marks which depend on different universities.
The candidates who are eligible sit for an entrance test and get the desired seat. If the aspirant wants a part-time certificate for the course, it is recommended that the aspirant contacts the colleges separately and acquire the eligibility criteria for the same as it differs with each college. The minimum score may vary according to different institutions.
Following are the entrance exams for UG and PG in Italian.
1. Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET)
This exam is popularly known as DUET. It is conducted by Delhi University. It offers admission to the candidates in UG, PG, MPhil and PhD programmes. It is conducted over 18 cities. It is a national level examination and is computer-based.
2. Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) entrance exam.
A part-time Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma are offered in Italian by The Centre for European and Latin American Studies. This entrance exam is known as JMI entrance exam.
3. BHU – Department of Foreign Languages
The entrance exam is called BHU-UET and PET for an undergraduate and postgraduate degree, respectively. They offer a 2-year part-time Diploma course in Italian in Varanasi centre.
There are many other institutions that teach this course and the admission is made on the basis of merit in the qualifying examinations. Like, Mysore University and Ramakrishna Mission Institute. Both of them offer both UG as well as PG courses in Italian.

Jawaharlal Nehru University is very renowned university and is quite famous for so many courses . Candidates who want to appear for the entrance exam should have completed 12th class with a minimum of 45% . As for now , JNU offers in the first year of BA the ten different languages which are divided into 3 clusters :
1. French , German, Spanish, Russian
2. Japanese, korean, Chinese
3. Persian , arabian , pashto
The entrance test for this program is a standard test that will be carried along with the BA entrance exam for the 3 clusters. Syllabus covers questions about general knowledge, artificial language , general English and language aptitude. The exam is conducted in the English language as a computer based test .
