it has all the required infrastuctre like , we have 2 library,a sports complex, hostels are good except some water problem, wifi is there in hostel, and alll the buildings, the food is hygeinic, there is smartboard.
i am studying Electrical and electronics engineering, the quality of teaching is mediocore ,the curriculum is updated but not in every subjects,we will have to study some external things also to be job ready.
the placements scenario is quite good ,here compared to other colleges but there is struggle ,atleast 80 percent get placed, highest package was around 40 LPA he was from IT or CS i guess average package is around 7-9 LPA
ya this is there because my fees is 80K per year, and there are many scholarship you can apply from college based on the elegibility criteria you can apply. also there fee consession if your income is too low .
college campus is a 10/10 there is no doubt in it ,also the college life in nitk is too good ,some teachers and staff are supportive location is too hot, sweaty, humid in mangalore because it is beside beach itself
Academic facilities: It has spacious classrooms, well-equipped labs with cutting-edge technology for various engineering disciplines and also has library and e-library. The campus offers internet speed of nearly 100Mbps. NITK also has cricket, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton courts
NITK has many professors with PhD's from prestigious institutions from India and abroad. The curriculum is upto date with EEE department providing course on ML and also offers inter-dept electives and also has minors and honors programmes.
NITK has a placement record exceeding 90% for B.Tech courses.Companies like D.E.Shaw, Microsoft, Google, Nvidia,Qualcomm, AMD , Texas Inst,Oracle visit the Institute.Median package in EEE dept is around 15LPA .
The fees is around 1.2lakhs per year with hostel rent around 7,000, mess fees of 32,000.
NITK boasts over 25 student-run clubs. These range from technical clubs like IE, IEEE, csd robocon to cultural clubs. Every alternative semester there is engineer a technical fest and incident a cultural fest.
The college infrastructure are very good and they are all usefull to all the students and the Library is very peaceful there we can get a good environment to read and to get some time to do some work of our related to academics.
The Academics is good . I am studying in Electrical and Electronics Department and i completed my 4th sem and the teaching is very good and our courses in our curriculum are updated to the latest field .
The placements in our college are excellent and the minimum average package is about 6 LPA and the placements is undertaken and guided to every single student by the department called CDC ( carrier development centre) their all the guidelines about the company and all the mandatory things are shared that the students can get to know.
As the campus is around a total area of 300+ acres, there are a lot of buildings and nature co-existing. the infrastructure in the departments are very good as our college has lots of latest technology in it's hold. except for the building that were built in the old times like few of the boys hostel and the civil department, all the other buildings and facilities are great. currently renovation of the older buildings are going on. other than that the facilities and comfort we get there is great
on the field of teaching, there are a lot of professors who studied in IITs and NITs who have a great talent and knowledge. the teachers have a lot of experience in the teaching field and everyone of the teachers are great in their own way.
placement quality in NITK has been good for a long period of time. people. there are lot of great companies coming for placements for a wide variety of fields. students usually try for IT jobs and comparatively few go for core jobs. but the opportunities are almost same for both
as the campus is located near the coast with it's private beach. the climate over there is hot most of the year and less hot for the rest of the year. but there are lot of facilities in the buildings to make up for the heat. the abundant amount of trees in the campus provides cooling sensation
Overall infrastructure is very good and hygiene but for me there should be air conditioners in class rooms because as the climate of that place either sunny or rainy so air conditioners should be there .
Academics are good all the professors are very good and help us in academics and their explanations are also very good and in lab experiments also they provide very good knowledge about the experiment .
I just completed my Second year and according to our seniors of our branch got placed well and many of them are placed ,so our branch students can prefer core ,it or electronics side .and placement record is good
Yes
My college consists of most facilities, equipments and has a decent infrastructure. In terms of college wifi it provides 10GB to each student every day. The mess and hostel is well maintained. There are 2 libraries and all academic related books can be easily accessed through both online and offline through nitk websites making it convenient for students to browse or get a hard copy at their convenience. The sports arena consists of unisex gym , all sport equipments and a clean big grounds (including 2 basketball, volleyball and throwball spaces separately). Every sport event is encouraged and monitored well.
I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree in EE and the quality of teaching is good since the professors have large expertise and experience of their fields. As far as the curriculum it is well updated and the labs conducted for particularly this branch is satisfactory.
From past years NITK is well known for its high placements in core branches and has proven its words which can be seen through the trends in past years. Average of 93% students were placed in EE and highest package offered was around 54lakhs per annum. The college is really supportive in regards of placements and highly wants it's students to land on proper jobs.
The course roughly costs around a lakh per year and including hostel, mess charges or will be around 2 lakh per year. Nevertheless students do get fee concession for having lesser income and the institute encourages students to apply for scholarships also. The money invested in here is surely worth it.
The best part of the college is it's nature and NITK beach. The students are really active organising one or the other events everyday through different clubs. There is also regional clubs that encompasses different cultures and celebrate every Eve. Both extracurricular and academics can be achieved in here. There is no literal worst part about the campus. The weather is a bit challenging to adjust. It's either too hot or rainy.
I have shared most of the things above and I can assure that if will ba a memorable and learn worthy journey
The college infrastructure is impressive with modern facilities and well-maintained buildings. Classrooms are equipped with the latest technology, and there are ample spaces for group discussions and studying. The library is extensive, providing access to a wide range of resources and the study environment is maintained. Overall, it creates a conducive environment for learning and academic growth.
The academic program is rigorous and comprehensive, offering a diverse range of courses taught by experienced faculty members. The curriculum is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills relevant to various industries. Additionally, there are ample opportunities for research, internships, and extracurricular activities to enrich the learning experience and prepare students for their future careers.faculty members are friendly and helpful sometimes they care weaker students individually which is a great thing ofcourse.
The college boasts strong ties with industry leaders, facilitating high employment rates for graduates. Career services provide personalized support, including resume building and interview preparation. Internship opportunities offer hands-on experience, enhancing students' marketability in the job market. Knowledge is also provided on how to Excel in placements .
The scholarship scheme provided wil somewhat help in this matter . And yes it facilities are worth for money. Like water supply hostel maintenance wifi connections are well provided.
Enjoyable one
Departments infrastructure is good, but hostels are quite old, new infrastructure is being built at the moment. As it is a government college and college of national importance they don't compromise when it comes to infrastructure.
The teachers here are well qualified and everybody is pretty credible when it comes to what they teach. All the profs here have phds in what they do, and many have also worked in industries, thus bringing that knowledge into what they teach.
Placements in general until this year(2022) have been good. The placement cell in the college, from what i have heard from my seniors, is cooperative and help out students. Albeit this year due to recession the placement season and campus hiring took a hit, but in general the placement and internship is good with big companies like Microsoft, Amazon coming for hiring.
The value for money is immeasurable, considering NITK is a government college the fees is not much. The total fees including hostel comes out to about 2 lakh per annum, but the amount of exposure and networking one gets here is invaluable.
The campus life in general is pleasurable. We have two fests in an academic year, one technical in odd sem, and one cultural in the even sem(incident). Other than that the support staff is very cooperative and responsible, and due to its close proximity to urban areas of mangalore and udupi one doesn't feel bored during weekends.
College infrastructure is decent. They are building new hostels and lecture halls with modern facilities but old ones will feel less maintained sometimes. Library is very good. Sports complex is also good.
In terms of academics NITK is better. All professors are PhD s and have great knowledge and experience in their respective fields. They worked in industries also so they make you prepare practically. And curriculum is is focused on more practical things.
Placement cell is very supportive. Last year's average ctc was 20.809 lakhs and 670+ students got placed. Average ctc and number of students placed is more for circuital branches and it decreases to non circuital branches.
It's value for money.
Campus life is great
The college infrastructure is really good. Nitk is a really big college. It has a gym , swimming pool and even a private nitk beach. There are all the facilities inside the campus itself. And the college is really clean .
As you may know nitk is a technical college. So mba is just a department in this college. So not much importance is given to this department . But the teachers are really good and the curriculum is very well updated. It also gives many opportunities to make ourselves updated.
The placements are also good here. 8 LPA is the Average package and many great companies comes here for placements. And last year 80% students got placed. The college is very supportive for placements.
Compared to other other colleges, here the fees for mba is a bit low. So the ROI is good. The tuition fees is per year 1 lack and including other fees, for 2 years it could be 4 lacks which is less compared to bschools.
Here we will get a nice campus life. There are many clubs in which students can engage in. As all the facilities are there inside the campus there is no need to go outside. Also there is no hostel curfew. It is really nice to walk inside the campus at night.
Let's break down your options:
Current Situation

Yes, it is possible to gain admission to the same NITK in a better branch if you score well on JEE Main 2026, even if you have previously been admitted to the same NITK through a lower branch via home state quota. Your past admission does not preclude you from reapplying and securing a better branch if your JEE Main 2026 score is competitive.
Explanation:
JEE Main's Admission Process:
JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance exam used for admission to NITs and other participating institutions.
Home State Quota:
Home state quota allows students to get preferential admission in NITs based on their state of origin.
No Restriction on Re-admission:
While a student might have been admitted to a specific branch and NIT initially, there is no rule preventing them from reapplying for the same NIT and potentially securing a better branch based on their performance in a subsequent JEE Main exam.
Score-Based Admission:
Admission to NITs is primarily determined by your JEE Main score and your overall rank compared to other candidates.
Higher Score, Better Branch:
A higher JEE Main score will increase your chances of getting into your preferred branch, even within the same NITK.
Considerations:
Rank: Even with home state quota, the overall rank and category-wise cutoffs within NITK play a crucial role in determining which branch you are offered.
Branch Preferences: During the counselling process, you will have the opportunity to express your branch preferences, and the higher your score, the better your chances of getting your top choices.
Cutoffs: Understand the cutoffs for different branches and categories in NITK for previous years to get a better understanding of the competition.
In summary: You can absolutely try for a better branch at NITK by taking JEE Main 2026. Your current admission does not prevent you from reapplying and getting a better branch based on your score.
With a percentile of 89.12 in the SC-PwD category , your estimated category rank may not be sufficient for CSE at NIT Surathkal , where the closing SC-PwD rank is usually around 100–120 .
To improve your chances for CSE at Surathkal , a percentile above 98 is generally safer. PWD category student (https://gurus.rediff.com/question/qdtl/career/admission-nit-89-1226810-percentile-jee-mains-2025-sc-pwd/5194967)
However, you may get CSE or related branches in other NITs where the cutoffs are relatively higher. It's best to apply to multiple NITs through JoSAA counselling and list preferences wisely.
