The JEE Main 2025 counselling session has started from June 3, 2025.
Here we have two hostel For Btech first and second year students, the hostels are very very old but they are good enough. They all have common bathrooms but they are well ventilated. And for third and fourth year we have Mega Towers which are very nice. In Mega Towers, we have separate rooms for each person and a common bathroom shared by about 10-12 people. Classrooms:- There are 3 Lecture Halls name LHC - A, B and C. LHC C is the best among all of them and LHC A is the worst.
Academic is very nice but some time professor are boring. You have to do extra work apart from the studies apart from Academics. Professors from Mech. department are the worst. If planning for Mech, beware!!!
Different department have different placement record. For example placement for cse and it are best in class. Companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, etc. come to our college. And college have cdc career development center to place student and placement for our branch are not so good
It's a government the fee is usually less. So don't have to worry about fee. And there are different scholarship. And by Comparing with other private colleges like Manipal, Bits, etc. Soo it's value for money
Campus Life is amazing here. You have a your own beach which you can go anytime you want (except during night time when there are high tides). But, never go for swimming in the water as chances of drowning is very high in those waters. We have amazing seniors to help, two fests, one ENGINEER (technical fest), and the other INCIDENT (cultural fest). INCIDENT is the best fest overall as it is the second largest fest in whole of South India after IIT Bombay's MOOD INDIGO. Soo campus life is amazing

As usual, Academics is very nice but the professors can be boring sometimes. You can't expect them to make you understand everything. Since this is college and you have learn everything by yourself. You have to do extra work apart from the studies apart from Academics. Professors from Mech. department are the worst. If planning for Mech, beware!!!
Placements for CSE and IT are best in class. Companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, etc. come to our college. Also we have Career Development Center only for placing students in the best possible company.
Since, it is a govt. college, you dont have to worry about the fees. They are very low when compared to other private colleges like Manipal, Bits, etc. Now, I have nothing more to say and my friend has recommended me this, I have to fill this box just to cross the minimum characters XD.

The college infrastructure is really good. It has extra-ordinary facilities such as neat classrooms, good libraries, laboratories also with proper equipment. The WiFi is also provided and sports center is also pretty good.
I had pursued MTech in this college. The quality of teaching is of high and good standard. Professors deliver the lectures really well. The curriculum includes all the recent technologies and methods which are very important for students to become job ready.
The quality if placements at this college have been extremely good. The percentage of students placed were about 80% and the highest salary offered was about 18lpa. The placement process is also very easy and college is highly supportive.
The course had costed me 1 lakh per year. I definitely feel that it is justified to pay that money as the college provides really good resources.
The campus life is pretty good. The best features are the research labs in which students can work. The students can also engage in cultural activities. The campus is very safe.
Overall, The college is extremely good.
It has almost all the facilities that are required for studies and healthy lifestyle. You get 5GB data per day. Food is not so good in 1st year messes but it improves eventually. You get a lot of sports facilities and equipments for practice and tournaments
Most of the teachers are helpful and willing to teach. They teach you what is in the curriculum and guide you for jobs and interpreneurship. The curriculum though is old and updation is required. A few professors are least interested in teaching us.
Highest placements are usually from IT and CS departments and the average package of these branches is around 14-15 lap. Placement rates of all branches circuital and non circuital both are good and average package of all branches is satisfactorily high.
Course costs around 5.5 lakh (including hostel and mess) Studying here for well paid job and B Tech is worth but if you wish for a lavish campus life It is not a place for you.
The infrastructure is pretty great and there are also some old buildings in the college. The broadband connection is great . The places are safe and hygienic but quality of food is somewhat bad here which is a major concern.
The syllabus will be updated time to time and curriculum is industry based which makes the student job ready. This helps the students to get placements. Webinars are also conducted time to time. Teachers are also well trained.
Placements here are pretty low compared to other nots but are pretty good compared to other colleges. CSE tops the list in placements followed by ECE. The highest package is 48lpa. The top companies do attend here.
It is better to join in this college rather than anyother
we have a 250 acre campus, with 10 departments, and many research facilities also. We have both girls and boys hostels and wifi facility is available through out the campus, class rooms are well maintained, and have mics also, all classrooms have projectors, and large boards to facilitate teaching. We have two sports complexes and huge play grounds. A big library, with air conditioned rooms, a gymnasium, a central computer lab etc.
i am doing my b tech in electronics and communication engineering. The teaching quality is excellent. All the faculty and teaching assistants are well experienced and student friendly. Our curriculum is up to date, and includes all the recent developments.
We have an excellent placement record every year, which is more than 90 percent. Our training cell called as cdc, career development centre, handles all the placements. Our highest package is something around, 40lpa, and an average of 6 to 8 lpa.
it costs me around 2 lakhs per year, but it is worth the amount i am paying, i am getting more services from the campus than that i am paying.
WE HAVE OUR OWN PRIVATE BEACH :)
Bathrooms need to be maintained much more neat and tide.basically for first yeas there are three messes in which two are veg and one is for non veg,but the no of non vegetarian is more so they need to think about it.
Basically this is my first year so about academics I don't know.but as of now I mean considering first semester it was poor academics for me so more over only newly appointed teachers are being called to take classe for 1st years.
Many says placements are good here.so i would prefer every one thise who write jee mains to go ahead witb this college.Even my seniors too said that lpa for job is quite good here so this college would be a good choice for jee aspirants
I had thought money would be less while taking admission but the truth is that here the value is so high. Many come here that the college is under government and thinks that fees structure might be less compared to outsiders but it is high.
Campus Life is bit good as of now but during rainy season it's irritating and more over in Mangalore hot temperature is constant so even it's difficult for us to saty there in summer Overall campus Life is good.
Let me first introduce my college,NITK is one of the top engineering colleges in India and is also the institute of National Importance. NITK has all the necessary infrastructure ,facilities for a research aspirant,World class equipment ,mostly German, because there equipment are the best. when it comes to classroom,it has all the basic facilities one can imagine, for example: wifi facility, charging slots per student, smart boards,etc..Living spaces are too good and the food quality is excellent.
I choose Civil Engineering, due to family background, mostly of my family members are civil engineers.Teachers here are highly qualified ,with at most knowledge about the subject. No doubt about the teaching staff. Ya,our curriculum is the updated one,and here in NITK regular meeting, seminars are held for teachers to go accordingly. No doubt, whatever you study here, is approved by one of the best faculty. So it makes you ready for the open world.
Quality of placement here is excellent .80% of the students are placed last year 2019.The highest package offered was 39 lac annually for an IT (Information Technology) student. The average salary offered was 7,00,000/- annually .The placement process was very transparent and college is very supportive. We do also have Career Development Center.
It cots around 2 lac annually including all the facilities ,for ex: tution fees,hostel,mess,library,etc..The fees i am paying is worth, because in this much amount we are getting all the world class facilities. After paying fees you don't have to pay for anything, for ex:medical expense, sports, etc.
NITK is spread over 300 acres of area,15 km from Mangalore .It has its own private beach which is its best part. The worst part is you have to long travel, inside the campus itself,so cycle is must. And the climate ,it sucks,it only has two season, summer and rainy,so its either extreme hot or extreme cold. There are my clubs ex: ACM,ISTE,IEEE in campus were we can engage. All the staff here is very helpful, you even have television in your hostel.Location is excellent as said above.Ya,it can handle.
NITK IS PERFECT.
College infrastructure is so nicely constructed that I really like it. All classrooms, laboratories, libraries are well furnished. Canteens are well equipped. WiFi facility all around the college is of very good speed.
Academics in our college is so good and really I like it. All lecturers are so resourceful and highly experienced. Library is having a vast source of reference books to read. All staff members are so friendly and supportive. Co curriculum is also well maintained.
Placement facility in our NIT is so nice. Even students of mechanical sciences also have vast opportunities. We even have support for entrepreneurship. Annual output is so high and even increasing. Many companies visit us every year.
My college worth my this much fees, as they are providing best facilities.
Peaceful environment all around the campus.
Very good.
Our college is having very nice infrastructure. Classrooms re very well constructed. Libraries very comfortable. Labs and canteens are well equipped. WiFi facility all around the college is of very high speed.
Academics wise our college is very good. All lectures are very much resourecuful and very well experienced. Our libraries are so good nd have vast collection of books. Extra curricular activities are very amazing.
As being only a NIT in Karnataka state, placement opportunities are very high. Our college yearlyboutputbis tremendous. Although I'm a mechanical students still have lots of chances. Entrepreneurship is also supported.
There's no waste of money at all, we have best facilities.
Campus life for us is amazing. I love our campus beach.
best.
Let's break down your options:
Current Situation
- You've scored 98.67 in JEE Mains 2025, which might not be enough to secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- However, you're likely to get a seat in NIT Surathkal for EEE or ECE.
Option 1: Pursue B.Tech in NIT Surathkal
- Pros:
- You'll get a good undergraduate degree from a reputable institution.
- You can focus on academics, research, and extracurricular activities.
- Cons:
- You might feel that you're not in your dream college (IIT Bombay).
Option 2: Take a Drop Year for JEE Advanced 2026
- Pros:
- You might improve your score and secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- IIT Bombay is a prestigious institution with excellent resources and opportunities.
- Cons:
- There's no guarantee that you'll improve your score or get into IIT Bombay.
- You'll have to prepare for another intense exam season.
Option 3: Pursue M.Tech from MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology)
- Pros:
- MIT offers a good M.Tech program with various specializations.
- You can gain expertise in your chosen field and enhance your career prospects.
- Cons:
- You'll need to complete your B.Tech before applying for M.Tech.
- You might need to take entrance exams like GATE or MET.
Considerations
- Your interests and priorities: Are you more interested in pursuing a B.Tech from IIT Bombay or an M.Tech from MIT?
- Your academic and career goals: Will a B.Tech from NIT Surathkal or an M.Tech from MIT align better with your goals?
- The risks and benefits of taking a drop year: Are you prepared to take the risk of not improving your score or getting into IIT Bombay?
Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual circumstances, priorities, and goals.
Yes, it is possible to gain admission to the same NITK in a better branch if you score well on JEE Main 2026, even if you have previously been admitted to the same NITK through a lower branch via home state quota. Your past admission does not preclude you from reapplying and securing a better branch if your JEE Main 2026 score is competitive.
Explanation:
JEE Main's Admission Process:
JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance exam used for admission to NITs and other participating institutions.
Home State Quota:
Home state quota allows students to get preferential admission in NITs based on their state of origin.
No Restriction on Re-admission:
While a student might have been admitted to a specific branch and NIT initially, there is no rule preventing them from reapplying for the same NIT and potentially securing a better branch based on their performance in a subsequent JEE Main exam.
Score-Based Admission:
Admission to NITs is primarily determined by your JEE Main score and your overall rank compared to other candidates.
Higher Score, Better Branch:
A higher JEE Main score will increase your chances of getting into your preferred branch, even within the same NITK.
Considerations:
Rank: Even with home state quota, the overall rank and category-wise cutoffs within NITK play a crucial role in determining which branch you are offered.
Branch Preferences: During the counselling process, you will have the opportunity to express your branch preferences, and the higher your score, the better your chances of getting your top choices.
Cutoffs: Understand the cutoffs for different branches and categories in NITK for previous years to get a better understanding of the competition.
In summary: You can absolutely try for a better branch at NITK by taking JEE Main 2026. Your current admission does not prevent you from reapplying and getting a better branch based on your score.
With a percentile of 89.12 in the SC-PwD category , your estimated category rank may not be sufficient for CSE at NIT Surathkal , where the closing SC-PwD rank is usually around 100–120 .
To improve your chances for CSE at Surathkal , a percentile above 98 is generally safer. PWD category student (https://gurus.rediff.com/question/qdtl/career/admission-nit-89-1226810-percentile-jee-mains-2025-sc-pwd/5194967)
However, you may get CSE or related branches in other NITs where the cutoffs are relatively higher. It's best to apply to multiple NITs through JoSAA counselling and list preferences wisely.
