The college bots, impressive infrastructure, offering top-notch facilities in classroom, laboratories, libraries and sports centres. However, there is room for improvement in cleanliness and food quality within the living quarters. Nevertheless, the classroom slabs and library create an excellent learning environment for students in NIT campus.
This college showcases impressive placement records with a significant number of graduate securing employment, including tech positions in the industry. However, the institutions overall placement performance average indicating potential for employment in this area.
With a campus of over 700 acres and 29 lakes, the campus features world class infrastructure with state of art Digital Library, all sorts of sports facilities, premium hostels and wonderful classrooms, academic blocks and guest houses. Full WiFi connectivity and modern ways of learning.
I studied electrical engineering there. The faculty is really good (a little strict though), the course curriculum is well designed but hasn't been changed much over the years. But you can avail opportunities to work with faculty in real life projects, which helps a lot when it comes to understanding industry standards
The placement has been good over the years. As with any other engineering college, software related roles are valued the most. Other branches do get a decent placement as well. Also, there is coding club and different resources from where one can learn coding (for the non CSE people). You have to be actively engaged.
NIT SILCHAR do have a good infrastructure but not the best. There are two blocks where the classes are held one is the old gallery and other is the new gallery ,only new one do posses adequate facilities and equipment while the old is not so equipped. When it comes to hostel facilities ,hostels which are built recently have good infrastructure, the living spaces are not so good for the first years ,south Indians face difficulties in food taste.
I am currently pursuing B.Tech course in Electronics and communication engineering .I chose this course because it has good scope in the future and it is an evergreen branch. Different domains can be chosen from this course. We do have laboratories with good equipment and experienced professional lecturers to guide us .
The placements here are so good . The highest package in this academic year is about 1.67CPA and it is bagged by a student of CSE branch. Average package in overall under graduation is about 14.89 LPA of which CSE branch do posses the highest average package is 24 LPA.
The total fee per semester is 1 lakh for a general category student whereas for an EWS and OBC-NCL student with income less than 1lakh and also for SC and ST category students have to pay just 32,600 per semester thus value for money is so good .Books are also freely available in the library.
The campus life is good with fests being conducted every year and many clubs which let us participate actively in many activities providing us the platform to explore ourselves and the outside world at the same time enjoyment also.
Our campus is a very beautiful one spreading over 625 acres full of greenery .Though the weather is unpredictable all the time .
Infrastructure of the campus is very good in academic buildings, admin building, and central library. But in hostels the infrastructure is not good. There are many sports facilities available there is a sports complex and a student activity centre available. It has enough equipment.
The academics of the college is outstanding. Currently I am studying in computer science and engineering branch which has experienced faculty and the their quality of teaching is perfect. Because I am interested in coding. The curriculum is relevant and aligned with current industry standards, preparing students for real-world challenges.
The placements of National Institute of Technology are excellent which are better than many IIT's . The highest package is 80 lpa which is secured by a student in computer science and engineering. The average package of computer science and engineering is 24 lpa. The percentage of students who are getting placed is 89 percent. In computer science and engineering the percentage of placements is 94 percent. The placement process was easy and will be taken care by faculty.
Fee of National Institute of Technology is very less. Per semester the tution fee is 80,370 but some part is refundable. The hostel and mess fee is 32600. For SC and ST and income less than one lakh students there is no tution fee. For general and OBC students 2/3rd part will be removed.
The campus life is beautiful. The campus size is 625 acres which has many grounds, Asia's largest digital library. There are annual festivals and technical festivals like Incandacense and Technosis. There are no worst features here. The faculty are very supportive. The location is very safe there will be checking for outsiders.
There are many clubs which are very useful for students carrier development. The clubs are useful to improve communicative skills. NCC and NSS are also available here. The environment is peaceful and pleasant. Which has 20 plus lakes in the campus. There are two ATM's and a State bank of india in the campus itself. There is a startup centre where we can improve our idea and implement it. The seniors are very friendly. Many events will be during the festivals .
Campus is 600 acres in size. It has the green campus. Campus has the Admin Building, Largest Digital library of Asia, the wildly spread green campus. Campus has 10 boys and 4 girl hostel with well equipped amenities.
Academic is very strict and professor are stubborn to the point of view.If you want to score good grade you need to work hard. Academics is very strict for attendence but mostly it depend on professor to professor.
Placements are not that much good for lower branches like civil and mechanical but if you study honestly you will get a bright future after studying from here as it is seen from its alumni success. But if you get the branches like cse and ece you can go for it blindly.
college has area of 625 arcs and a big buildings , new admin biluding , some old and some new hostels, two academic blocks for regular classes one is old gallery and one is new gallery , in short we can say good
a good to average academics in the National Institute Of Technology Silchar , some professors are stict but some are linent too, the way of teaching is just like an old school days nothing extraodinary here.
placements of National Institute Of Technology Silchar are pretty quite a good number of companies recruits from here not most of the companies are big name but that handle good number of offers here
Size of Campus is of 625 Acres but land of utilisation is nearly 100 acres. The Campus has the Largest Digital Library of Asia. If we talk about the overall infrastructure, it is of great concern. Campus needs to upgrade the basic infrastructure to cater the need of the upcoming technologies.
NIT Silchar in 2024 stills follows the same academic syllabus as it was many years back. There are many drawbacks in academic system, like it follows the strict norms for the marking scale. Academics mainly revolves about the prescribes syllabus. It must also focus on the latest technology and new updates in the curriculum.
Pre-Covid Period, placements was going fine and an average package was also on a decent ground. Post the Covid Period, the placements have been drastically detiorated. Average Package for the Year 2023-2024 is around 10 LPA CTC.
The NITS is one of the top 10 Nits in India. It has all the basic facilities and services needed for the students.The. College has the largest digital library along with the medium facilities in the classroom.
I am currently in the first year of the electronic and communication department. All the professors who have taught us are good and guided a lot if I have any doubt questions. The curriculum is well developed.
2023 is one of the greatest year in the NITS.As the highest package salary increases from 50lpa to 80lpa.Tge ece highest salary was 55lpa and more than 89 percent were placed in the companies placement
The campus life of the college is really good .It has all the basic facilities needed for the sports and also for the education. The campus has two playgrounds and aslo has sports complex which are well maintained
I am currently pursuing Btech in the electrical department in the 2nd year .I really liked the academics and teacher taught us very well specially the departmental subjects but they are really strict in nature.
In this present year the placement scenario is not good due to the recession period. But in 2023,more than 90 percent were placed in the companies like amazon ,microsoft , google, uber, PSUs and many more.
The college campus consists of many lakes along with all the essential equipments and laboraties for the classes of students in the college. The classrooms have projectors which helps a lot to the students.
The academics of the electrical department is an average. The professors are good at their explaination of the topics and they are very punctual in nature. The curriculum is quite interesting and I really liked the subjects.
The placements of the NITS is more than average i.e good.More than 89 percent of our department were placed last year in the top level companies that had visited our college .The procedure was not so easy.
If you're considering a CSE branch at NIT Silchar, know that it's generally considered a good choice, especially if you prioritize placements. CSE consistently boasts high placement rates, often close to 100%, with top companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs recruiting, and impressive salary packages.
You'll also find a strong coding culture, supportive seniors, and a picturesque, green campus with numerous clubs and activities beyond academics. However, be mindful that Silchar is a remote location with potential connectivity issues, and some NIT SILCHAR REVIEWS suggest that while the faculty are generally supportive, the curriculum might be outdated in some aspects.
Hostel facilities and mess food is also good here While the overall experience is positive, these factors are important to consider before making your final decision.
Hello Aspirant
Unfortunately It is too difficult to get admission in core branch with 79.75 percentile in JEE main.
However you are in OBC-NCL.
If you're from Assam (HS): You might get Mechanical or Civil through CSAB special rounds, but not core branches.
Great job on scoring 96.556 percentile in JEE Mains 2025
Expected AIR
: ~37,700
You have good chances for:
ECE, EE, Mechanical, Civil (under Home State quota)
CSE might be difficult in General category, but easier if you're OBC/SC/ST
