Great infrastructure because the hostel is new and the academic building is great because it's newly built . But for now we have not moved into the new academic building but we will be moving in soon.
I am studying metallurgy and materials engineering because my rank only got me that branch but the placements are surprisingly good. The curriculum is up to date. Last year syllabus will help in gate exams.
Placement are very good because of the companies that surrounds the college . Tata steel and tata motors provide great internship opportunities. The average placements are around 7 lakh. The only branch that does not have good placements is civil.
The college has taken around 1.04lakh rupees per semester including mess and hostel fees. The mess fees is 16000 and hostel rooms for 42000 per semester. The labs are not so good so I won't say that I am getting money worth
The college campus is good but it is not kept very well maintained. The sports facilities are also not so good and there is no Indoor court. The teachers and staff are very supportive it is located a bit away from the town.
Senior sir very supportive the only thing that I don't like is that you have to call every senior as sir or mam. Only placements are very good here. The flora and fauna of the college also very good you can see dogs and cows and Bulls roaming free around the campus but they are never a threat.
The infrastructure is good because everything including the academic building (should be in use within 2-3 months) and the mess hostels are new. Sports facilities are less. There is no indoor court of any sport. No use of smart boards in classes and no WiFi or LAN in first year. The food is hygienic and the living spaces are clean.
I am studying metallurgy and materials engineering. It is better than the metallurgy of other nit even them which have higher nrif ranking. The curriculum is more or less updated it will help you in your gates exam.
The placements are very good because of many companies near the college like TATA STEEL, TATA MOTORS, etc. The highest packages are offered to computer students by Microsoft amounting to around 42 lakh per year. The average salary is around 7.5 lakhs. Civil has very bad placements but all other branches have very good placements.
The course costs 210000 per year including hostel and mess fees. It's like any other NIT or IIT.
The best thing is that you will have events going all round the year and it's upto you to participate in that event or not ones you get to 2nd year but before that you will be forced and you will not like it. Students can engage in sporting and literary activities. The teachers and students and staff are very supportive and the college premises are safe
The food here is better than most other colleges and the hostels are very big and the best part is placements

For the future of India, NIT Jamshedpur's Materials and Metallurgical Engineering program is likely a better choice than NIT Patna's Civil Engineering program, especially considering India's growing manufacturing and materials science sectors. NIT Jamshedpur offers a strong program with strong industry ties, particularly with Tata Steel, and a history of excellent placements.
NIT Jamshedpur's Advantages:
Strong Industry Connections:
NIT Jamshedpur has strong ties with Tata Steel, a major player in the steel industry, offering numerous opportunities for internships, placements, and research.
Focus on Emerging Materials:
The Materials and Metallurgical Engineering program at NIT Jamshedpur is well-suited for the growing demand for advanced materials in various industries, including aerospace, automotive, and electronics.
High Placement Rate:
NIT Jamshedpur generally boasts a high placement rate, particularly for core engineering branches like Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, with many students securing jobs in the steel industry and related sectors.
NIT Patna's Advantages:
Civil Engineering Demand:
Civil Engineering remains a vital field in India, especially with ongoing infrastructure development projects.
Established Institution:
NIT Patna is a well-established institution with a long history in engineering education.
Overall:
While both programs are valuable, NIT Jamshedpur's Materials and Metallurgical Engineering program aligns better with India's future industrial landscape, especially with the emphasis on advanced materials and the strong industry connections it offers. The program at NIT Jamshedpur also has a higher placement rate compared to NIT Patna's civil engineering program.
With an ST rank of 25,678 in JEE Mains 2025, you have a possibility of getting into some NITs, but the chances for the top NITs, especially for core branches like Computer Science, will be quite competitive. The actual cutoffs vary each year depending on the number of applicants, their performance, and the seat matrix.
Considering your ST rank and the home state quota for NIT Jamshedpur , your chances of securing a seat are better compared to the other state quota. Based on the previous year's cutoff trends, for the ST category under the home state quota at NIT Jamshedpur, the closing ranks for some branches have gone up to the 40,000s and even higher for less popular branches. Therefore, with a rank of 25,678, you might have a good chance of getting into branches like Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or even Mechanical Engineering at NIT Jamshedpur under the ST home state quota. However, for the more sought-after branches like Computer Science or Electronics and Communication Engineering, the closing ranks for the ST home state quota are typically much lower, so the chances might be slim.
Regarding your CRL rank of 9,33,546, it is very unlikely that you will get any NIT through CSAB counselling. CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) conducts special rounds of counselling to fill the vacant seats after the regular JoSAA rounds. The ranks for admission through CSAB usually remain within a few lakhs for the general categories, and for reserved categories, they might go slightly higher, but not as high as 9 lakhs. With a CRL rank of 9,33,546, your rank is considerably outside the typical range for admissions into NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes) through CSAB.
In summary, while your ST rank of 25,678 gives you a reasonable chance of getting into NIT Jamshedpur under the ST and home state quota for some branches, your CRL rank of 9,33,546 makes it improbable to secure a seat in any NIT through CSAB counselling. It would be advisable to focus on the JoSAA counselling based on your ST category rank and explore the options available to you in NIT Jamshedpur and possibly other NITs that accept a higher ST rank for certain branches.
I hope this helps.
