    Q. I am a third year BTech student. I am in a dilemma whether to opt for MBA or MTech. Please suggest.

    A. You need to ask yourself what is it that truly sets your pulse racing? Is it technology? Can you spend hours reading about and trying to implement different kinds of technology? Then M.Tech. (or M.S) is the right option for you. If, however, what interests you more is the business side of things and you’ve always wondered how businesses are run and driven, then MBA is the right choice for you.

    Q.
Should I opt for Agri-business Management?
    Siliva

    A. You should go for an agri-business management course only if you have a passion and dedication to work in this field. It would also be better to complete this education from a reputed college, (for eg. IIM-Ahmedabad). This will ensure proper training and a decent placement. If you do not want to opt for such a niche sector you could also keep all your options open by opting for the general MBA.

    Q. I want to start my own business enterprise. Please suggest a right course for me
    Nilesh

    A. Ideally you must take up a job and get some ground-level exposure to the same business processes and complete your MBA with specialization in entrepreneurship after 2-3 years. This would give you the much needed grounding for starting something on your own. You can also use the period to examine whether you could stand the pressures of running a Business.

    Q.
How good is a PGDM(SOFTWARE) course at IIM-B? I am an IT employee and have 3.5 years of work experience. Please advise.
    A reader

    A. Unlike the typical part-time courses which have little value in the industry, the PGSEM course has carved a niche for itself in the IT industry mainly because it is offered by IIM-B, a premier B-schools in India & is specifically tailor-made for IT professionals. The minimum experience asked for is 2 years in IT industry, which you already have, so I would recommend you go ahead with the programme. Teh course also has an exceptionally good placement record.
