Management Development Institute Admission Process

MDI Gurgaon provides a plethora of postgraduate level management programmes. The admissions process at MDI Gurgaon is divided into two stages. Students are shortlisted based on their CAT score and then chosen based on their performance in group discussions and personal interviews. Candidates for PGDM, PGDM-HRM, and PGDM-IB admission are shortlisted based on their performance in the CAT entrance exam. A valid GMAT score is required for admission for Foreign/NRI/PIO candidates. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to participate in a group discussion and a personal interview round. Admission to the National Management Programme (NMP) at MDI Gurgaon is based on CAT/GMAT scores, followed by a personal interview. Admission to the PGDM-EMP programme is based on a candidate's performance in the MDI test administered by MDI Gurgaon or the GMAT/CAT.

Candidates with a valid CAT and GMAT score are exempt from taking the MDI exam. Following that, candidates must attend a personal interview conducted by the institute. Admission to MDI Gurgaon's Fellow Programme in Management (FPM full-time)/Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM) is based on candidates' CAT/GMAT/GRE/UGC-JRF/GATE scores. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to an interview. Candidates' admission to MDI Gurgaon is determined by their performance in the program-specific entrance exam. MDI Gurgaon admission is confirmed following document verification and payment of the course fee.

To answer your question, NO. All the students of premier B-schools in India do not have the above criteria. Though they are preferred, but what all the students have is a good profile, with good academics, and good co-curricular and extra-curricular.

Also, having work-ex is not mandatory, though it would help you is B-schools.

But your CAT score and GD-PI play a major part in the interview process.
