The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun (UPES) is an institution dedicated to specialised studies in fields of engineering, law, design, management and pharmacy. Admission to all the courses in the university is through the entrance exam. To apply for admission in UPES, candidates have to fill the online application form and qualify the entrance exam. UPES conducts entrance exams in May/June at different cities of the country. The entrance exams are different for every course and are UPESEAT for engineering admission, UPESMET for management studies, UPES-DAT for design studies, UPESPAT for pharmacy studies and UL-SAT for law studies. The allotment of seats is through online counselling based on candidate score in the entrance exam.

The process of admission in the UPES is simple and concise. To get a seat in UPES, candidates have to follow the given steps
Step 1- Fill UPES Application Form:- The application form of UPES is released online on the official website upes.ac.in. Interested candidates have to fill the online application form and submit it before the last date. In online application, candidates have to fill basic information, upload a photo, signature and pay application fee.
Step 2- Appear in UPES Entrance Exam:- Candidates who fill the complete application form within specified time will be issued admit cards to appear in the entrance exam. Details about the exam centre, exam date and time will be provided in the admit card. Candidates have to appear in the exam as per their date and time.
Step 3- Participate in Counselling Process:- Candidates who qualify the exam will be eligible for admission into university, subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria. The allotment of seats will be through online counselling. Candidates have to register online for the counselling and seats will be allotted based on candidates score in the UPES entrance examination.
Step 4- Submit Fees and Start College:- Candidates who will be allotted a seat will be required to submit the course fees within the specified time. Candidates will be admitted upon fee submission and can attend the course thereon.

UPES Dehradun JEE Main 2024 expected cutoff percentile:
CSE: 80–85%
IT: 75–80%
Mechanical: 70–75%
Civil: 65–70%
Petroleum/Chemical: 60–65%

UPES School of Law accepts ULSAT which is their own entrance exam,Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks in 10th and 12th and a CLAT AIR ranking up to 15,000 are exempt from taking the ULSAT.
If you do not fall under the rank required for the admission in upes you need to take ULSAT exam followed by Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) .
