The UGC’s latest list of 121 universities entitled to offer online programmes shows where modern learning is heading. The data reflects that it is less about academic certificates and more about what actually the learners want from their education.
Online MBA Remains Popular
Out of 121 universities offering full-fledged online programmes, 99 institutions (82%) provide an online MBA degree.

While traditional BA and MA programmes still exist, 110 universities also offer these programmes in online mode.

The UGC’s list of entitled higher educational institutions (HEIs) show that 17 universities offer a dedicated online programme in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, and Business Analytics. While the number shows a small representation (nearly 14%) out of the 121 institutions, it is clearly visible that universities are building job-oriented courses.

With 121 universities offering 809 online programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, India’s education system is building a parallel higher education economy. Online universities in India are offering from a minimum of one online programme to up to 13 programmes.
