What is Industrial Biotechnology

Industrial Biotechnology is also known by some other name that is White Biotechnology. Industrial Biotechnology is the study of the use of enzymes and the use of microorganisms is done to make bio-based products in various sectors such as chemicals, food ingredients, paper, textiles, and many other industries. Industrial Biotechnology is one of the most important fields in working for the implications of health and medicine.

The scientists in this field can create new medicines that are required for the treatment of cancer patients, synthetic human growth hormone and synthetic insulin. Industrial Biotechnology has been a boon to the industry in recent times that has occurred in the field.

Some of the job profiles in this field are Trainee Research Associate, Technical Solution Manager, Accounts Manager, and many other job profiles. Therefore, if a candidate decides to pursue a course in Industrial Biotechnology, then it is a good career choice for them. 

Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Industrial Biotechnology

Every course has some of the other guidelines out of which one is eligibility criteria for the candidates who wish to take admission to the course.

For Undergraduates:

  • The eligibility criteria for a bachelor’s degree is clearing their 12th with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks or equivalent.

  • They also need to clear the required entrance examination. After qualifying the entrance examination, they have to give an interview. 

For Postgraduates:

  • The candidate must have a B.Tech degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

  • They also need to clear the required entrance examination that is conducted by different colleges or universities. 

Entrance Exams for Industrial Biotechnology  

Different entrance examinations are conducted for admission to the course. The candidates who wish to pursue a course in Industrial Biotechnology should compulsorily appear for the entrance examination. 

  • JEE Main and JEE Advanced- JEE has now replaced AIEEE and is conducted for admission to the engineering courses that are offered by National Institutes of TechnologyIndian Institute of Technology, and some other colleges as well. 

  • BITSAT - The entrance examination is held for admission to the BITS Pilani campuses all over India. The examination is conducted to provide admission to the integrated first-year degree programs. 

  • VITEEE - Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination is one of the common entrance exams that is conducted for admission in engineering in campuses of VIT Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Andhra Pradesh.

  • SRMJEEE PG - The entrance examination is conducted for the candidates who aspire to get admitted into various postgraduate engineering programs that are offered by the institution.

Scope of Industrial Biotechnology in India and Abroad

Though the Industrial Biotechnology industry has been a boon, it is still growing, giving more career opportunities to the individuals. It is one of those industries that is growing slowly and steadily, but there is tremendous growth in the field.

Industrial biotechnology is a btech course that means you can do it after your 12th std or you can do it after your Btech degree. Industrial biotechnology is a field in which there is use of different enzymes and mivrobes in order to make bio based products. There are many good colleges available for this course and scope is also good like Research associate, Project assistant, lecturer, scientist, pharma companies, project manager engineer etc, Chemical companies etc.

To apply for the drug inspector recruitment exam you need to know the following things

Eligibility Criteria:

A gradate in Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical Science/ Clinical Pharmacology/ Micro-Biology/ Medicine or any other equivalent qualification with these specializations from a recognized university or institution.

Age Limit:

Age must fall into range of 21 years to 30 years.

Exam Pattern:

It is a written objective type exam containing

  • PAPER-1: Pharmacy - 200 marks - 100 ques (Duration-2 hrs.)
  • PAPER-2: General Knowledge - 50 marks - 50 ques(Duration-1 hrs.)

Since, you have completed your Biotech so you are eligible for this job. You need to write UPSC Examination for this post. After qualifying the written test you will be called for the interview.
