Rules differ by college, but the basic BTech AI and Machine Learning eligibility criteria stay the same:
Passed Class 12 with Physics and Maths, plus Chemistry or another approved subject.
At least 45 per cent marks in these subjects taken together (40 per cent for reserved categories) at many colleges.
Some colleges accept Biology, Computer Science, Informatics Practices or a technical vocational subject as the third subject.
Students awaiting their Class 12 result can usually apply, but they must pass before final admission.
Always read the college's own page for exact marks and subject rules.
| Exam | Accepted By |
|---|---|
JEE Advanced | IITs (for example, IIT Hyderabad's BTech in AI) |
JEE Main | NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and many state and private colleges |
State exams (TS EAMCET, AP EAMCET, TNEA) | Colleges in those states |
University exams (VITEEE, SRMJEEE and similar) | Private universities |
Three IIITs, two IITs and two NITs currently offer BTech in Artificial Intelligence, and IIT Hyderabad was the first Indian institute to launch a B.Tech in AI. Many more colleges offer BTech CSE with AI and ML specialisation, such as VIT Bhopal, SRM, LPU, UPES and Manipal.
The Total course fees range from about Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh. Here are some colleges that offer BTech AI and ML, with what they charge in total and which entrance exam you need to get in:
| Colleges | Entrance Exams | Total Fees (approx.) |

Maths is a big part of this AI and Machine Learning course. If you enjoy Class 12 Maths, you will enjoy this too.
AI skills are used in IT, banking, healthcare, e-commerce and automobiles. Common job roles after an AI/ML course are given below:
| Job Role | What You Do |
|---|---|
Machine Learning Engineer | Build and deploy ML models |
AI Engineer | Create AI-based products |
Data Scientist | Find patterns in data |
NLP / Computer Vision Engineer | Work on language or image AI |
Data Analyst | Turn data into business decisions |
MLOps Engineer | Run models in real apps |
Entry-level pay for AI professionals at around Rs. 6 lakh per year. Pay can go much higher at top colleges. One Careers360 college page lists a highest package of 26 LPA, with recruiters like Accenture, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Capgemini and Microsoft. Treat "highest package" as a best case, not what an average student gets.
The college matters more than the branch name. A CSE seat at a better college often beats an AI&ML seat at a weak one.
Ask for median placement, not the highest. Request last year's median package and the number of students placed.
Check approvals. Make sure the college is AICTE approved and ask about NBA accreditation.
Look at the labs and faculty. Do they have GPU access, ML labs and teachers with real project experience?
Your skills decide your job. Learn Python and SQL in year 1, build projects on GitHub, and try Kaggle and internships.
Think about what comes after BTech. Many students go for an M.Tech in AI, an MS abroad or an MBA in analytics. If M.Tech is your plan, GATE is the exam to prepare for, so it helps to start early.
BTech AI and Machine Learning suits students who like maths, enjoy writing code and don't mind a good challenge. But the course name alone won't land you a job. What counts is the college you pick, the skills you build and the projects you can show. So check the fees and placement numbers before you apply, and start learning from day one. Python, small projects and internships will help you more than you expect.

You can pursue B.Tech in Robotics, Automation or Mechatronics after Class 12 with PCM. Admission depends on the university and may be through JEE Main or merit.
For example, Galgotias University offers B.Tech in Robotics and Mechatronics, so these can be good options to explore if you're interested in automation
Hi,
Yes, you can still join BE/BTech through KCET counselling. Since you officially discontinued your B.Sc Agriculture seat, submitted the discontinuation letter, and got your TC/documents back without penalty, you are generally eligible to participate in KCET counselling again.
KEA mainly creates issues when students block seats and do not
If you're specifically looking for B.E./ B. Tech in Aerospace Engineering (not Aeronautical Engineering) , it's worth considering LPU as well. Aerospace Engineering is a broader field that covers the design, development, testing, and maintenance of both aircraft and spacecraft , including satellites, rockets, and space exploration systems, whereas Aeronautical
